Each team brings concepts to the table but the league and Adidas all have final say, based on the templates availabe from Adidas, the design concept for other logo and branded merchandise and a variety of other factors.

It certainly is the league. It take a full year or so to go from presenting a finalize design, to get approval, as a start (and from approval it may be a year from when it’s going to be updated). As mentioned above, the league looks into an entire branding or rebranding as part of a uniform change, making sure (now) Adidas can provide the template, things like socks and pants and gloves and those manufacturers can grt on board. And of course then also the fan merchandise, both the current stock which has been manufactured and wearhoused and basically renedered useless once this new uniform or identity comes out, is something the league has to work out with the team. If there is issues with the design of the uniform or other road blocks, things get pushed back and maybe situations then change and it’s back to square 1 with the team having to resubmit everything to the league to start it all over. And with the known change to Adidas over the last few years, teams had to put a hold on major changes because the Adidas template and contract and process was going to change everything again.

The logo itself, if tweaked as part of a jersey redesign, is also a whole process in itself. With contract limitation of how often you can change uniforms,jerseys and logos is another hinderance.

So it isn’t Ken King (solely) supposedly ignoring the fans and or getting crudely done uniforms from low level staff members, oblivious to everyone else’s opinions, it’s largely a league matter of a long drawn out approval process, based on design, sure, but also boring protocol for overall branding identity, trademark checks, design limitations based on suppliers and manufacturers for jerseys, uniforms and fan merchandise, and the current stock of branded merchandise, contractual agreements etc etc that dictates both particular designs, and timings.

And if he is (ridiculously)the sole person to take blame for the current uniform set, does he not get the credit for the 2004 set?

Man - Seems like it's only me, but that 80's era red/red/red uni combo just screams lumberjack pajamas - don't like 'em at all. However I love the white jersey / red pants / white socks 80's color combo! I also love the '04 template. Can we also get mockups without roundy numbers? I'd love to see more classic numbers used. At least with the current jersey they lost the italics... small victories...

I like these jerseys. I have a Turek horsehead, I wore it during all of the 04 playoff games. They're better than the wordmarks and the pedestals.

Honestly if it was a one-off or a one season thing I’d be totally down with bringing the horse head or the pedestals back.

I think the mistake they made with the horse head was when hey made it their permanent road jersey for a few years before the ‘04 red jersey was a thing.

I think the horse is excellent when used as a shoulder patch like the 04 jerseys. I do not like it as the main Crest though. Black Unis with White C would look awesome.

which means you failed because it's the C of RED.

Which is also why the black doesn't work well.

I like the idea of Red, with white and yellow (retros)
Similar with the Whites, with red and yellow

Would be interesting to see a Black 3rd with just Red and yellow. Guessing it'd end up looking too dark but I'm no artist.
