Default Are you a good driver?

Since we have had a few good discussions about bad drivers lately, I thought I would throw this one out.

According to this site, 1 in 11 US drivers fails this fairly basic driving
test. How would you do if you had to take a driving test today?

http://www.gmacinsurance.com/SafeDriving/2006/test.asp

Granted, it is based on US rules, but most of them apply here also.

There are some strangely worded questions in there though.

National Drivers Test - Results

Your score was: 95%

A score of 70% or better is considered passing on a state written drivers test. The correct answers are highlighted below.
"

Number 12 is the only one I got wrong - I wanted to put give em the brights but that wasnt an answer :

12. When a car with bright headlights comes toward you at night, you should: (Select one)
a. Move toward the right edge of your lane
b. Look above the oncoming headlights
c. Look below the oncoming headlights
d. Look toward the right edge of your lane

I knew I was in the right of way when I mad dog drivers who attempt to speed up when they know lanes are closing and try to get in. I never let those *******s in - ohh I hate those people to no end.

I didn't know the "Highways are the most slippery" and the "What vehicles must stop at all railroad crossings" questions. I got question 12 wrong (car with bright lights coming at you).

First thing I thought of, too. I chose "a".

Question 10 (headlights) obviously doesn't apply in Canada anymore.

The car with bright lights one should be fairly easy if you have driven a lot of secondary highways at night. You should also move your car to the right as well, as there are a lot of a-holes who will drive right down the centre line of an undivided highway at night too.

This is the question I got wrong

21. You need to head north, you decide to take Memorial Drive, however it is an East/West road. What do you do?

A) Go East until you reach a road that goes north to avoid the concrete median
B) Go West until you reach a road that goes north to avoid the concrete median
C) You need to head north so you continue to go north anyway hoping your car won't get stopped by a silly conrete median
D) Take the next flight to Toronto for an Usher concert

I chose C, but I knew I should've picked D!!!

Tripped up by their answer to the question about turning left across a stream of oncoming vehicles. Obviously you shouldn't wait for every possible (visible) vehicle to pass...only those that would be "dangerously close" if you were to turn in front of them.

Stupid test. I'd appeal this one in a final exam.

I've had to take a number of defensive and winter driving courses through work and they've helped a lot.

I have to stop driving while talking on my cell phone though. That's a real bad, and potentially dangerous, habit.

Coincidentally, of the first eleven people to respond to this thread, one failed. I guess those stats are accurate.
