Buffalo is a craphole, agreed, but the fact that a lot of their older buildings remain should be considered a positive in this, not a negative.

I agree it is a positive, well it would be if they had some semblance of new development to go along with them IMO.

Sooner or later Buffalo will go through a resurgence, and they will be glad they kept their history to go along with the new ones. It's just a matter of time....although probably a long time.

I dont think that is going to happen.

The population of Buffalo has decreased each year since 1970, and is the only city other then St.Louis that had less residents in 2000 then they did in 1900.

The economy has been on a steady downturn since 1957 when the St.Lawerence Seaway was opened, cutting Buffalo out of the cycle of the transfer of goods to and from oversea's ports.

The main industries of steel, automobile assembly and rail have all declined over the years.

Unless some new industry suddenly starts up in the region, it will continue to slide downhill IMO.

oh man, i went to buffalo one summer when i was visiting a team mate from Toronto. Wow. We went there for the shoping deals or what ever, and yes the deals at the outlets were good....but the city of itself....wow, gross. sick. just a sick ass place. Admagin hell, and well thats what buffalo looks like. Just run down, depressing. Although i must say a great highlight i have from Buffalo was pretty much the best food ive ever ate.

If your ever in Buffalo look for a lil hole in the wall dump of a place called The pressbox. Looks like garbage from the outside ( as does everything in buffal) but wow was the food unreal, it was a real cool place too.

Your description of Buffalo reminds me of my visits to Winnipeg and Regina. WoW, were they ever holes!

Although Saskatoon was much nicer than I expected. Much nicer by a LOT.

Yeah I've been to Spokane as well. What a dump. It is an affiliate for one of the major tv networks so I figured it would be a much nicer city. Trash everwhere, empty strip malls scattered around the city, and I don't think I saw a person under 200lbs. But just down the highway is Coeur d'alene and it was a much nicer city.

See its all perspective. I thought Winnipeg was just fine. But then again, I went to University in Windsor, which a lot of Ontarions hate because its so blue collar. To me, that was what held a lot of the appeal. It seemed more down to earth to me. And Detroit is a blast, plain and simple. So much to do.

Ya...I really hate when people lump in Saskatoon and Regina together...very different cities, and Saskatoon is a lot nicer.

Well of course, it's 1/4 the size or less! Plus, the surrounding terrain is a little easier on the eye than what Spokane sits in.

I go to buffalo all the time for games, going this saturday and tuesday actually. All the good pubs and wing places are within walking distance of the arena and they're great to go to before and after the game. Some of them look like dives from the outside but they're pretty nice, nice enough to drink cheap beer and play the harmonica on some awesome wings. City is a dump though if you're seeing it for the first time.

I agree, there are some great restaurants in Buffalo.

I would actually choose to live in Buffalo if given a job opportunity there. Of course, I'm a huge Bills fan and have a lot of family in Niagara Falls and Toronto.

The city isn't the greatest but some of the surrounding communities are very nice. Orchard Park for instance.
