I agree that Rob Kerr has made Calgary a better place, and he was good at his job. But I could see the writing on the wall for his radio career the minute Will Nault began getting significant air time. Terrestrial broadcast radio isn't exactly a growth industry nowadays. Rogers were grooming the cheap young guy to take over for the expensive old guy, because they are desperate to cut costs wherever possible.
What severance package is that?

I recall first hearing Kerr on the radio in 2004, I remember him really talking about how the Flames were looking each game in trying to get into the playoffs. Really enjoyed hearing someone with a little more personality at the time. Enjoyed his short lived awkward call in show where he seemingly wouldn't answer dumb questions and be forced into agreeing with a fan just for the sake of agreeing. Wasn't my favorite on Play by play but still I didn't mind as I know he was always engaged and interested. Generally seemed like a good guy all around which is kinda rare. I hope he does well in his next stage of life.

Fan960 took a step backwards with Kerr’s departure.

This means more Nault and Logan “mumbles” Gordon. It seems the Fan doesn’t care if some of their on-air personalities can properly annunciate or speak coherently.

Logan has such a mush mouth I wince like I'm watching Micheal Scott and turn off the radio. Foot dragging and mush mouth, two biggest gear grinders. Don't get me started on mush mouth foot draggers, man.

I see. Well, the only thing you cited as evidence was what Kerr himself said in a public interview; and if he were bound by an NDA, that would not mean much. If you have other evidence, of course that carries weight… for those who have access to it.

If he's getting pushed out involuntarily (the evidence I actually have access to does not convince me one way or the other), he must be getting a severance package. If it's larger than the minimum required by law, it may be bound by an NDA which, among other things, could forbid him to disclose that he was in fact let go. This happens all the time, especially in failing companies.

A 15-year employee is bound to be making more than a recently promoted intern.

Have you actually met Millions or (more likely) are you judging him solely because he retweets conservative tweets...?

Either way, it was an unnecessary jab at someone.

Well, sure. That doesn’t mean they had large salaries.

That said, the fact Kerr publicly says it was his choice means little. If he was given a choice to be fired or “voluntarily” resign (but with a severance) he obviously would not want it known that it wasn’t his choice - it’s not something people generally want advertised.

Rogers, being a publicly traded company, are required to make their financial statements available. Check them out and get back to us.

I was doing some painting this morning and had the radio on the fan -they were running promos for Eric Francis Friday’s with rob kerr.

Made me think that his leaving must have been pretty sudden.

Best of luck. Kerr was the voice of the Fan and the station will not be the same without him. I remember the great work he did in 2004 on overtime and always enjoyed listening to the afternoon show. He was a excellent interviewer and came off very passionate and knowledgeable about sports.

I also try to think positively about time doing PBP. Yes Kerr was super awkward and in way over his head but he was at least responsible for some of the funnier moments in Flames history.

They're always running promos for things that have already happened. It's nothing new. Just sloppy production.

Rogers' financial statements do not contain a separate breakout of the profitability, or lack thereof, of their radio operations. Check that out if you can find the information anywhere, and get back to us.

Depends on what you think is a big salary, I think Maher was somewhere around $225k, Wills is probably around a $100k. Millions and Kerr were long time employees, one would have to think well into 6 figures each for sure.
