Wait until next year bud. It’s gonna be ugly. The Jays have so much money coming off the books though. Hopefully they can add a couple nice free agent pieces to make the team worth watching.

Jays get Copping in return for Axford.
Andrew Stoeten
@AndrewStoeten
Copping is 24, a RHP just moved up to AAA. A reliever, his walk numbers are high, but he managed 55 Ks in 46.1 IP at AA this year, which was a big improvement on his first turn there in '17 (60 K in 68 IP). Generally tidy ERAs, but nothing super special.

Deadline over but deals can still trickle in. Really thought Granderson would be moved, maybe he has and we’ll find out soon.

Org depth guys, which is fine. Thought Axford might get more but meh... found money this year. So basically just Granderson left to move right?

Could always move him after the waiver deadline if someone really wanted him.

Good deadline IMO. Thought Granderson would move but also don't think he would have returned much of anything so not too worried about it.

#bluejays trade summary to this point - 6 players dealt, 10 come back, 5 pitchers, 5 position players. 5 of the 10 now ranked in the Jays top 30 according to MLB pipeline.

Granderson can still be moved. This was just the non waiver trade deadline.

No, he wouldn't have... honestly the main motivation in doing a Granderson trade would be giving stand-up guy Curtis Granderson one more shot at a ring. They still might so long as they can match up with someone before the Aug 31 waiver deadline.

I still expect he will get dealt I was just referring to their work today/last few weeks.
Hopefully they do move him because I agree he deserves it and also as a Jays fan I'd like to see someone like Alford/Pompey giving a chance to just run with a set of games. Not their AAA play makes them deserve it but it would just be nice to see.

Rival teams have called #BlueJays to see if they'd flip some of their new additions per Ross Atkins. Wouldn't be a surprise if Drury and Giles were on that list.

Booooooooooooo
Shi Davidi
@ShiDavidi
In non-deadline news, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., will be out weeks rather than days after bruising left knee and spraining left ankle. #BlueJays Hasn't been placed on DL yet but sounds like that's coming.

I like that Atkins stuck to his guns and didn't deal the rest of the guys until he got value (and that meant holding, so be it). I liked this interview he did with TSN.

Agreed. A guy like Granderson is probably good to have around your developing guys. That could be worth more than a #25 depth prospect or whatever he would have returned.

Vlad made his AAA debut tonight. Odd line for the night: 0 for 1 with 3 walks, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Yep same thing with Clippard and Donaldson, in the case of Donaldson he will need to be removed from the IR before he can be waived.
Once he clears, I would think its likely he could be traded before the end of August.

Actually he doesn't.
I heard Morosi on the radio this morning explaining all that. Players on IR can be waived. In fact he said he thought JD would be on waivers last night at midnight.
