FWIW Conroy just said on the Fan “it would have been really special to get Jarome back last year, but then we got Jagr.”

I'm glad Jarome didn't have to play through that tire fire of a season last year.

For those of us who don't have access to sportsnet, would someone be so kind as to post any videos available to residents outside of Canada? Thanks in advance.

It's getting tough to listen to the radio talking about Iggy's career, hearing all the clips and reminiscing about the memories. I literally never thought this day would come. As a kid being a big fan of Jarome, I remember thinking he'd be in Calgary forever. Thinking he he would always be the captain. Thinking he would just...never retire.

Seeing Iggy getting traded was tough, but at least you knew he was still around and in the league. Now to see him hang it up for good, it's pretty surreal right now to think it's all come to an end.

20 years gone, just like that. ####

Even on the radio in Ottawa they were talking about Iggy last week. One of the DJ's on Chez 106 wore his Flames hat the day he heard about Iginla's retirement to come.

Paraphrasing here, but he said something along the lines of "Iginla was what every player should be, a player that would score and fight. A man that won Gold medals and we all know he won a cup too, maybe not technically, but we all know it was in".

No kidding. Talk about an ignominious end to an illustrious career.

Putting a passionate guy on the passionless Gulutzan Flames.

You know there would be the typical Iggy trolls on this forum that would have blamed him for the entire season.

Clearly it was his fault because he didn't come back. Iggy would have scored 73.2 goals on Johnny and Monny's line.

Actually based on Conroy's comments I think it was close to happening. However based on the fact that he had surgery I think that surgery prevented his return from coming to fruition.

Well, he played through some pretty dismal Calgary years with Brian Sutter and Gilbert that record wise were way worse than last season. Plus, the Avs in 2016-17 were 22-56-4 - that's absolutely horrible. I guess he didn't have to finish with them, but he still wound up on a tailspinning LA team.

Don't know if it helps, but calgaryflames.com will be streaming the press conference. I don't know if out of country/province are blocked or not.
