Default Alberta is good

Lots of no good threads on Edmonton, Vancouver, Saskatchewan and so on. Looked for an Alberta is good thread. Could not find one.

Why is Alberta good? Why is Calgary good? What do you love about the province compared to the rest?

-North and south divide between the two major cities is great
-Best part of the Rockies with Canmore, Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise
-World class powder
-Prairie red skies
-Low taxes
-A real valid reason to own and operate a truck
-AAA Beef
-Friendly people
-Real cowboys and Cowgirls
-Chinooks
-The heartland of Conservative Blue

Feel free to diss other provinces!

There are many roads that allow you to leave Edmonton.

Low taxes???? There are many things I like about Canada and Alberta, but low taxes definitely isn’t one of them. We’re taxed up the yin yang here compared to other places.

No sales tax. No inheritance tax. Generally low gas taxes. When you add up all taxes and government fees and services, we have relatively low taxes, and have probably been undertaxed for far too long.

I see this has already devolved into partisan politics. But I will play along -

- a growing moderating political base filled with various opinions and not just tunnel vision political stripes.
- great camping

If you think Alberta has world class powder then you haven’t skied powder, unless you’re talking then the snorting kind. I can’t comment on that.

I don't consider this a positive.

Considering all the idiots who have carved out careers in politics simply by running under a Conservative Blue banner in this province, I don't consider that a positive. I think we'd be much better off if more Albertans voted for the people with the better ideas and not just whoever plays for their favourite team.

A fella can arbitrarily select another gender to save money on car insurance

Seriously, Alberta, has many good things about it. Two of my favourites would be lake Louise and bragg creek.

Having left Alberta a good long time ago, the things I miss the most are the big skies, colourful sunsets, Chinooks and their arches, the storms, the sunshine, and the sense of space. The Rockies and the badlands. Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Ginger beef. People being polite.

What 'real valid' reason do suburban city dwellers have to own big honking trucks again?

Is it a winter thing, cause they make good tires for cars and SUVs too.

Nevertheless, it's a great province.

Pulling trailers....recreational or for work purposes.

Moving things.

Carrying large tools.

Going off-road.

Lots of "valid" reasons.

Yeah, trucks arent my thing but blanket-labelling them all as 'impractical' doesnt make a lot of sense either.

They're losing practicality in my eyes because even the small ones are stupidly huge but their efficiency is steadily increasing making them more practical as daily drivers.
