The writing was on the wall for a while. Too bad it comes without a cup, but still a fantastic career. Iggy was a total hero in the way he modeled so many good characteristics. My favourite player all-time. Thank you Iggy.

If it's some stupid Forever a Flame ceremony, I am so done with this organisation. But luckily as much as the Flames sometimes bumble certain events, I just can't see them being that dumb and not straight up retiring his number the moment they can.
Iginla is without question the greatest and most important Flame of all time. No chance in hell his number isn't retired.
Great news. I'm not one of those fans that enjoys watching HOF players play past their expiry date so I'm glad he's decided to move to the nest phase of his life.
And yet you were happy with Jagr here? I'm afraid if there's a perfect example of a HOF player playing past his expiry, that was it.

Is there a difference between "retirement" and forever a flame. I thought that forever a flame replaced the jersey retirement thing and there isn't two categories of honoring a former player.

One retires the number (no one else will wear it) whereas the other just honors the player.
