Fantastic deal by the Flames. Wow. Whoever is handling the cap and negotiations is killing it. When your only mistake on the roster (right now) is Brouwer, you're doing something right.

So happy to have this guy in the fold for this long.

Reasonable contact for both sides....he won't be weighed down by high expectations and living up to a contract.

We got him under $5M, for 6 years with no contingencies?

Holy crap, did Brad have a gun to his mother's head or something? I mean, otherwise that tells me that Lindholm is signed up and really, really wants to be here.

Thats exciting!

Drop the puck.

What was that...?

Oh, that was just the sound of Treliving waving his magic wand.

What was he allegedly asking for from Carolina?

Or move Backlund and Frolik to line three (ice with matchups so not really a third line)

Tkachuk - Jankowski - Neal
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Bingo,

Don't you think Lindholm should get a look at center? He might be the second best center on the team.

I am not sure if there is a better RFA contact negotiator in the league than Treliving.

This is highway robbery IMO. This player is going to be awesome for us.

With Peters running the show I fully expect to see him all over the lineup.

6 years under 5 is a steal. Say what you want about Treliving but he knows how to negotiate RFA contracts

I've heard 5.25 to 5.5.

Carolina's offer was allegedly 4.5, but negotiations broke down because they were 750k appart.

If Carolina couldnt come to this deal then there would have to have been bigger problems at hand.

Similar to when we signed Frolik and Jets fans couldnt understand why that contract couldnt have been reached in Winnipeg.

Sometimes players just want out and sometimes GMs just cant figure it out.

Not Treliving though. Apparently.

Jankowski gets a Bennett-like $1.95
Rittich gets $1M (so will Gillies)
Kulak gets $1M
Hathaway gets $850K

That's 4.85, leaving only $3.15 which means Hanifin gets bridged, barring some salary dumping or a Brouwer buyout. Even if Treliving can get Rittich and Kulak below $1M, I don't think there's room for a long term contract without losing some more salary elsewhere.

With both Lindy and Nealer having no clauses it makes me think T Hall to Calgary in two years while keeping the big guys in Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk is more easily achieveable than we may think.

Yep and almost put that as an option too.

Problem with that though is you push Jankowski to the fourth line or onto the wing.
