What would the Raps gain from that? I know it's a hypothetical, but now that the draft is done there is no pick to look forward to for the future, so what player would the Raps get back that has any value, that GM James would not kybosh?

DeMarcus Cousins has agreed to a deal with Golden State.
That’s a ton of technicals on one team... and ######bags.
Also, RIP NBA.

Give it up to the Warriors, they created the ability to be the greatest juggernaut in league history. They built it through the draft so they could do things like this. But since hating the Lakers is what really matters, LOL at them thinking getting LeBron mattered.

Yep I hate the Warriors but fact is they didn’t need to go out and buy a bunch of players to be great. Now they’re doing that because they’re great.
Cousins might not be so great for them though. Hopefully....

NBA is broken.
That’s just stupid that Boogie can and would sign there too.
Guess there has to be some respect for him prioritizing a championship over money but really that’s going to be a pretty hollow championship IMO.

Yup, all these players should have an asterisks beside their name when they win a championship. Every year since Lebron's original "decision" it seems to have got progressively worse. It's lazy and frankly boring. I will be watching very sporadically this upcoming season, and I certainly hope the Warriors kill it simply to diminish the product out there. When the competitive balance isn't there, the product is sub par, and now the NBA is at its worst.

In cousins defence , this is probably the best way to prove he can be healthy and set himself up for a big pay day next season
GS -150 to win the championship .....

Yeah I'd definitely agree Cousins situation is a bit different than the typical "ruining the NBA" signing. If there were long-term deals out there, he'd be signing those. This is for one half year (Cousins is out until Dec/Jan) and then he's gonna leave if he can prove he's healthy. So if you're gonna be on a one year deal, you might as well play for the best team you can.

"The decison" left a sour taste in my mouth. As far as Im concerned, GSW is playing by the rules and is beating lebron at his own game.
It sucks but the NBA is turning into the team you cheer for and the super team you cheer for. No parity at all

Reading the rumor about Raptors trading DD or Lowry for Leonard made me laugh. MU would be the GOAT if he could pull that off. Only signed for one more year but the Raptors two are only signed for two more. Adding such a great all round player for the one dimensional DD would just be awesome.
But it's a rumor and very likely a far-fetched one but hey it's a nice summer time daydream!

Well it's not that far-fetched, if the Raps offered DeRozan, Siakam, and Wright, the Spurs would almost certainly accept. But trading for Kawhi without having seen him play consistently in over 16 months by the time the new season rolls around, with it basically a given he's leaving at year end, is one hell of a risk. And while there's no question Kawhi is better than DeRozan, the net of their switch likely isn't enough to get you past the Celtics anyways, let alone the Warriors.

Time to start speculating on what's being offered?

While I have my doubts that OG will be a star, but simply a two way good player, I think it's a bit too much to give that much up for 1 year of Kawhi. You're mortgaging today by getting rid of a starter, and two guys who add solid depth, plus a mediocre pick, for a guy who pretty openly wants out and who has said he wants to go to LA. The Spurs should be in a tough spot where Val and a 1st should be good enough considering at years' end he walks. I'm probably the only one who doesn't see Kawhi as the be-all-end-all player that you mortgage everything for, especially given the situation the Spurs are in with him. But what do I know.

I was such a huge fan of Leonard his draft year and really wanted the Raptors to get him, but after all the oddness of the last season, I'm not sure what to think. I could be wrong but I believe most of the talk about him being dead-set on signing with LA next season came about before the LeBron trade, but that might have changed the likelihood of him staying with a team like the Raptors. Still, the only way he probably has a shot to stay with the Raptors is if they make a run to the finals this year, so you've got to not only make sure that you're protected, asset-wise, if he leaves, but that you've kept yourself enough win-now assets for this year. Such a tough needle to thread.

I mostly am a fan of the idea because I see the Raps' window nearly closed, so expending the assets to take one final crack at getting to the finals (that's their ceiling, IMO) is my preference. With Kawhi, even in that deal where the Raps hypothetically give up a ton, there's no question they're better this year and good chance they'd be best in the East.
Then, if and when Kawhi walks, it's a scorched earth rebuild and best chance to draft an elite talent anyway, vs meddling as a playoff bubble team which they could very well do with the depth they have on the roster.
So, my vote would be to enjoy a fun year with Kawhi in the fold, accept our fate as needing to rebuild in the near future anyway, and see how it plays out.

Window for losing in the finals at best?

Well, yes. The Warriors are a dynasty that I don't see any NBA roster capable of beating right now. But, give yourself the chance to get there and you're a KD or Steph rolled ankle away from having a fighting chance at a championship. Never know what can happen in a 7 game series especially with an elite talent like Kawhi in the fold.
If you need to rebuild anyway, give yourself the final crack with this core and then blow it up. Do a total rebuild, tank is on, and build through elite talent in the draft. Doesn't work in every sport but IMO without elite talent your best case is where the Raps are now; a playoff team without a game breaker capable of winning a competitive series.
