When the Flames signed both Richie Regehr and Gio I thought Richie was going to be the better player. And I think he would have been an NHLer (not at Gio's level) if not for concussion issues. Part of my soft spot for him was probably because his brother is one of my all time favorites, but Richie played a completely different style.

Further back I always thought Pavel Torgajev had potential though I admit I was wrong. Dude was given a couple chances.

Back then I had a soft spot for those European players because they seemed new and fresh so the likes of Forslund, Vittakoski, and Varlamov always floated my boat.

I remember when Richie and Gio both got called up in the 2005-06 season. Richie was definitely the better player (perhaps he was more-relaxed getting to hang out with his brother).

Agostino seemed like a good guy. And lit up the AHL but hasn't been able to translate to the NHL

Sven Baertschi. I remember after we drafted him, he would always practice much longer than anyone else in the organization. I've never seen anyone with his insane work ethic.

He also does a ton of charity work around various communities. Baertschi rivals Backlund in this regard. He came from humble origins - I believe he was raised by a single mother. She had to sacrifice a lot for him to develop his hockey skills.

I know he requested a trade, but honestly, I think it was the right decision for him. It's just too bad he had to end up on the Canucks.

Kenny Agostino was a guy that I thought deserved a better shot with Top 6 talent and ha da bit of a soft spot for him.

Ritchie Regehr was better than Gio that first season here and I think he would have been a solid NHLer if not for concussion issues.

Henrik Bjorklund I liked just because he had a great name.

Tim Harrison because he came into that first prospect camp and was just a perfect #### disturber and also a machine at stampede games.

Martin St. Louis. I was so angry with how he was managed. Glad he went on to be so successful.

I don't know if I would have called him a prospect, but I always thought Reto Berra had incredible athleticism and could have been an amazing goalie if he could reel his positioning and over-reactions in.

I really wanted Ben Hanowski to work out. Just such a great name, and obviously the circumstances of him coming to the Flames. So many nickname possibilities. Thank goodness for Jankowski.

Was really excited for some of our D prospects over the last decade as well, guys like Negrin, Sieloff and Ramage had a lot of promise.

Keith Aulie.

I always thought he would develop into a solid top 4 shutdown guy in the mould of Regehr. I was pretty upset when he was included in the Phaneuf trade.

Hanowksi. I always wanted him to succeed because of the Iginla trade.

Same thing with Daniel Tkaczuk. He seemed to be advancing quite well until the concussion derailed his career.

Might as well add Krahn to the list. Another decent prospect ruined by injuries. Seemed like a good guy and he didn't give up for a long time even trying to go with 2 blockers instead of a glove because of his hand injury.
I thought that was Dan Blackburn (that had to use two blockers).

Richie Regher had it all. Hard accurate shot, good wheels soft hands and super smart.

Fudging concussions screwed this up.....he was going to be awesome.

Maybe not a prospect st the time but I’ll never forget when we gave up on Martin StLouis.

Oh, I think you are right about that. Krahn was the knees now that I think of it.

Baertschi for me as well, I really felt he could have been a great player for the Flames but it never worked out that way.
The sad thing is he signed a Flames jersey for me, which is now hanging in my office, and got traded about a month after lol.
