If you asked me when I was a kid: Star Wars.
Ask me as an adult: Star Trek.
There's so much more nuance to the Star Trek world and it's about discovery, diplomacy, and the occasional disagreement (military). That pretty much sums up the modern world as I experience it. That's what makes Star Trek more accessible.

Haha it was more a joke, vote for one or the other AND Stargate
I also considered a poll with just one option, Firefly.

Star Wars. Star Trek is fun and I have even watched a good bit of the original animated series, but I just love light sabers and the force more.

Used to be Star Wars by a large margin, but in the Disney Star Wars era, Star Wars has fallen so far for me that its probably closer to even at this point, maybe a small lead for Trek.

Star Wars. Star Trek never really interested me. I found it boring.
Although I echo the sentiment that I am not happy with how Disney is handling Star Wars. TLJ was horrible.

In no way does that remotely begin to redeem the Holiday Special.
And it wasn’t even a good introduction to Boba Fett. I would rather have waited for ESB, thank you.

As a person that has a rare high quality recording of the Holiday special, I plan on having a rider in my will that if any of my relatives want their inheritance that they have to spend a weekend locked in a room while it plays on a loop.

Its funny because as someone said, its not about that. In fact after the original series when the movies came out Roddenberry was heavily involved int he First Star Trek Movie, and after that Paramount basically put him in a consulting role where nobody let him consult.
He had a role in developing TNG, but he was pushed aside in that one.
I read a thesis once where the writer said that Roddenberry's vision while nice made humans into the preachy annoying aliens of the galaxy and that instead of winning the peace, all the aliens would probably band together to exterminate the humans.
In other words Humanity became that anti-spaceballs.
In later years of TNG and moving into shows like DS9, the show runners embraced a more war ready Federation, they tried to go back to the Roddenberry trek with Voyager and we all saw how great that went.

Roddenberry Trek worked in the 60s really well, but the static execution of his vision by his successors like Rick Berman resulted in the hokiness that was the first two seasons of TNG, Voyager, and Enterprise. Thank God he left DS9 to head up a different creative team because he thought Voyager was the "better" project and let Steven Ira Behr and Ronald D Moore take over.
He was also a misogynistic sleazeball on set apparently and responsible for the Seven of Nine and T'Pol's outfits among other TNG reject script ideas that made it into Voyager and Enterprise + Star Trek Nemesis... *barf*

For me it's Star Trek. While there have been lot's of misses in the movies and series it always made me think about what humanity could become.
I definitely prefer the after Roddenberry shows because they seemed more realistic and showed no matter how advanced we get, there will always be moral challenges to overcome.
In particular, an episode in TNG where a Vulcan who had a Romulan grandfather was on trial for treason resonated with me. It showed the fight for justice and "what's right" is something we will always have to fight.
Those kind of thought provoking stories you don't find in the Star Wars Universe.

One of the best TNG episodes period was Drumhead, which is the one that you talked about bigehn.

I think that there were some really good morality moments especially in the first Star Wars trilogy.
Never give up on anyone
No matter how evil or bad a person appears to be, there are shades of grey
Don't make out with your hot sister no matter what.

I am a full on Star Wars fanboy, but DS9 for me tops everything. Probably the best episode of Star Trek for me was "In the Pale Moonlight".
Sisko betrays every bit of his "moral decency" to get the Romulans into the Dominion war. It was such a realistic look at how far people can go and push their own personal limits for the greater good.
Avery Brooks' performance in this episode is spot on, the remorse and contemplation of his retelling in the log, and the fire and determination to complete his task. You can see the constant conflict all episode. It is so far from the clean Picard while still being the "good guy". The writing is excellent and the plot keeps you guessing right up to the end. Realistic emotions in a sci-fi that I don't think I saw again until BSG.
So… I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover up the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But most damning of all… I think I can live with it… And if I had to do it all over again… I would.

There were a lot of excellent episodes of DS9, but that episode stood out because of the writing and because the shooting was so simple.
Avery Brooks is an outstanding actor. I did love the episodes where he was a pulp magazine writer slowly going insane as well.
Also the epiosde where the crew is caught at that outpost under constant attack by the dominion where Nog gets his let shot off and Quark really showed a depth of character.

You don't believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes..." - Quark
