Well, as superb as Denis played in the first set, he was pretty terrible in that second set as Paire takes it 6-2.

47% first serve is never gonna be good enough. Needs to find his serve quickly.

well, Shapo is battling in this third set, but he's down a break and Paire is serving for the third set up 5-4
edit: Paire takes the third set 6-4.

Denis takes a tumble, but appears to be okay. Needs to get more returns in play, making Paire's service games way too easy.

Service games are just flying by in this 4th set, on serve with Denis leading 5-4. Captain Obvious says Denis could really use a break of serve.
edit: A very fortunate Paire lob found the baseline, otherwise Denis would have had the break. 5-5 as we play on in the 4th set.

Tough to compete at this level when you're barely over 50% first serve. Feels like for now Denis has hit the wall and needs to start making the adjustments.
On the brighter side Felix is into the semis of his Challenger at least.

Disappointing as Paire takes set 4 in a tie-breaker and wins the match 0-6 6-2 6-4 7-6.

One adjustment would be stop trying to paint lines and also just getting the ball back in play rather than going for too much. He gave Paire so many easy points today.

We still have to remember this is his first full year on tour, lots of time to get it together. Definitely a disappointing year so far when it comes to major results, but still lots of year left.

The only thing that should stop Milos and a semi-final berth would be an injury forcing him to withdraw.

That was really disappointing. I was hoping for something more from Denis this year at Wimbledon. On to the next one.

At least Denis didn't shy away from the post-match media interview like Jack Sock did after a loss yesterday. Probably didn't want to face the wrath of Mom if he did.

Hey, finally some good news out of Wimbledon today as Gaby Dabrowski and Xu Yifan win their opening round doubles match (10-8 in the third set).

Denis Shapovalov Value: Has Tennis Canada held on TOO long?
j/k, the kid doesn't even turn 20 until next spring, expect many more ups and downs for at least another couple years before the consistency starts to really show. by that time we'll be going through the same thing with Felix too.

Muguruza on her way out, Zverev probably heading out too. Fed, Nadal and Serena will be winning majors until their 70s at this rate with no one coming up to threaten them.

Taylor Fritz is up two sets to 1 over Alex Zverev after skunking Zverev in a third set tie-breaker.

Zverev gets a lifeline with the match suspended. Fritz should have pushed for a Centre Court close, he had Zverev on the ropes.
