To those who say just drive a different vehicle...

My truck is paid for...

Why take on an additional car payment (3-400/ mth) just to save 40 bucks every two weeks on gas...

Good to see they are gouging after the long weekend as well. I mean, the people who have travelled out of town will still need to re-fuel to go to work, right?!?

Anyone expect anything less? It's summer and for a variety of reasons, gas prices are high.

Get your bike out, or put on your walking shoes if you can. You'll thank yourself for the exercise.

I see I picked a great time to go up to a premium only car that can barely do over 20 mpg.

Heathen! Everyone knows that Fuel is Murder! How dare you!

Now....I demand that you empty that fuel and dump it into the sea like an ecologically responsible Island-dwelling hippy.

if it helps, please know that i am thinking of you and will include you and your high performance vehicle in my prayers tonight.

if you are handy with hand tools you could likely convert your vehicle to run on kerosene - you should easily get 3 or more hectares per tank

Ha ha ha. Don't pray for me. Gas could go up to $2 and I would still be happy with it.

Will you be happy when everything else goes up in price too? It's not just guys like you who use gas. Everything you buy sits on a truck at some point.

Not gonna lie, I've been consciously driving less due to the extra costs between fuel and parking (for when I need to drive downtown). I've been riding a bike all over the place, including my commute, and it's been so good. My commute is about 11km one way and I do it in just under 30 minutes usually. It's really not that different from my commute time driving during rush hour. I'm still driving to the mountains and other places for fun things, but the bike has eased the $ sting of driving more than a little bit.

Given our province, city and my personal wealth's ties to oil, I am happy IF we see +$2/L gas (assuming that doesn't make demand implode).

I rarely ever complain about the price of gasoline as the impact on me personally is low as I just lump it with ever increasing taxes and bills that are coming out of my account monthly. I do feel for those that are impacted in their lines of work or people that have a tough time making ends meet as I'm not insensitive to those people. It's unfortunate for them for sure. Personally I feel in the big picture even at these prices it doesn't rival how much we get ripped off on cable, internet, cell phone data.

In July 2017, gasoline was $0.88/l at it's lowest. About a year later, it's $1.38/l . Politicos are whining about taxes... But carbon tax and GST are only about 5 cents of the 50 cent increase.

My organization purchased just over 9,000 liters last month ( June). Some one in Alberta certainly made a some coin on our work.

One of the main benefits of a cycle commute is that you can pretty much time the length your journey will take to the minute.

If it is practical to travel that way, it is by far the most reliable mode of transport for timekeeping.
