Flames Theo Fleury wants to sit down with abuser

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/globalne...-proposal/amp/

"Former Calgary Flames star Theo Fleury is hoping to sit down face-to-face with his abuser: his former coach, Graham James. Fleury told Global News he would be meeting with the convicted pedophile as a part of a documentary project. Nancy Hixt reports."

I would be very surprised if Graham James agreed to it.

"Sit down", eh? More like "let me into a room with that bastard for five minutes". And I don't blame Theo one bit if that's what he's thinking.

It would be great if the other "high profile" National Hockey League player would finally come forward now and send James back to prison.

Theo has done some amazing work lately
He seems to have gained a fair amount of selflessness in the way he works.

I was thinking the same thing.

'Documentary Project.'

"Hey Theo, uh, why isnt the red light on the camera on...?"

Ya I mean it is so worth it for him to come forward and deal with all this pain again just to see him go to jail for 6 more months . . . .

What would be great is if our judicial system kept freaks like that behind bars.

Yeah I highly doubt any abuser would sit down with their victim, especially when their victims are as high profile as former NHL stars.

I agree, he's become much less bitter and has really tackled everything head on. Pretty damn inspirational. And his book was amazing.

Good on him for wanting to do this. I have zero desire to ever see or hear from a previous work place bully ever again and my experiences drastically pale compared to everything Fleury had to endure.

I'm quite happy to see the growth the Fleury has been making. I think a public acknowledgement of Fleury's tenure with the Flames, an official jersey retirement, and a Hall of Fame nomination could soon be in order. Perhaps he no longer cares about any of that, but plenty of fans still do. It is the least the Flames and NHL can do to recognize how far he has come since hitting rock bottom.

I agree, his book is really good. Theo was my favorite Flame when I was a kid. I really wish the team would just retire his jersey already. And I'm talkin' REAL retirement, not that "forever a Flame" garbage. The guy deserves it.

I heard about this on the radio this morning and I thought 3 things:

1) Fleury is incredibly courageous in wanting to face James and confront him
2) James' lawyer would probably advise his client to not partake
3) This is all a trap and Fleury is going to murder him

If I was Fleury, I know which scenario I'd be contemplating...

Choose trial by jury. Bet Theo gets acquitted.

I saw Theo public speak a month ago and he was fantastic. The man says himself he doesn’t have hate in his heart for James anymore, that line of thinking got him in the messes he had.

I truely believe he wants to confront the past peacefully to close the chapter. After seeing him speak I firmly believe he has moved on from what he once wanted to do.

Theo does speaking engagements, and I strongly suggest people see him speak if they can. He will come in and do large events and it is very inspiring.

Last Theo is smart in this. If James declines to meet it shows what a coward he is, if he does meet then he gets the closure he wants. Either way he wins over that monster.

Yeah, I don’t think you get how the healing process works. But okay, he should want to punch his face in. Good lord.

On a serious note, I know his parents and may ask them the reasons for why he is doing this and see what they know.

I wish Theo nothing but the best and Ken King should quit standing in the way of retiring his jersey.
