Personally, the enjoyment of live hockey is far above and beyond the detriment of not being able to have a cigarette for 4 hours. I can see the addiction being strong, but I would truly hate for it to be so strong that it stopped me from doing things I enjoy.

I get that but we're talking a pretty short amount of time. Do people not go to movies or plays or concerts (not at the Dome) either? Or do they miss big chunks of those things too? Do they never travel by plane?

Buying a bigger TV and drinking good alcohol at home has a growing appeal.

And honestly, I dont have to wait in line for my own bathroom and with the advent of skipthedishes I can have pretty much anything I want.

Oh...and if its Brent Sutter/Gulutzan hockey I can turn it off and watch a movie instead once the other team scores.

Stretch out the cost of the TV, whatever drink you want (beer/wine/whiskey/highball) at wholesale prices rather than captive prices and food delivered you'd still probably come out way ahead financially especially when you factor in not paying for the tickets, parking and travel.

Oh! And you can pause it and smoke whenever you want, if you are so inclined.

I know I'll be going to less games this year because of the re-entry rules. Maybe I'll just go to one or two instead of the 7 and spend the extra money on better seats. And definitely won't be spending money on booze because I cannot drink alcohol without having smokes. Wheeeee.

I've had Gamecenter for three years and I've never watched a game not live haha.

Maybe there's just something wrong with me but it just feels wrong. Plus I always forget to shut off my notifications so the first goal would always be ruined for me.

I had HALF of a DOT of one of the MOTA THC gummi Lego bricks a friend brought over, and holy crap that lasted forever. Such a slow, smooth uptake though, first sign of effects came on within about 15 minutes but really gradual.

This is so strange. I (unfortunately) smoke, but I don't quite understand the outrage happening over this rule. The writing has been on the wall for a long time now, it shouldn't be a surprise that it's happening. You should be able to go without a dart for 3 hours. How do you deal with air travel?

Have you watched many home games this last season? I don't smoke, but there were a few times where even I thought I needed one.
Flames have emailed an update; which addresses my concern:
If, for any reason, you believe that you need to leave and re-enter the building during an event, please visit Guest Services by Section 226 on the concourse. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
Which is good. There have been times I have had to leave for one reason or another, but planned on coming back.

Yes but this isn’t travelling. This is a form of entertainment that people spend their disposable income on.
 In a building where:
- Tickets are expensive
- Beer and Food is ridiculous expensive and mediocre at best
- Parking is absurdly expensive
- drunks run rampid (I’ve been cussed at countless times and spit on once)
- Leaving the area by car is a nightmare
- washroom lines could be considered a human rights violation
- They’ve added security pat downs which can take way to long to get in the door

I can see how it’s just the straw that breaks the camels back for some people. Especially if they play like last year.

All of those are reasons I don't go to games much any more, but the smoking ban wouldn't even crack the top 20 my complete list of reasons.

Every smoker likely has different motivations for smoking, but personally it doesn't determine whether or not I have a good time. It doesn't enhance entertainment for me.

It just feels like a very odd thing to worry about.

to me, people complaining about this is the same as when people complained about not being able to smoke in bars.

and pot smokers. really? has there ever been a rock concert where you couldn't light up wherever you want?
I've never in my life seen anyone told to put it out or get kicked out for smoking pot. only cigarettes.

Traveling already sucks. I hate airports and I hate flying. Not being able to smoke is expected. The whole situationis an accepted pain to get somewhere warm.
While every 2nd intermission for about 5 years I've gone for a smoke and chatted with randoms for 15 minutes, then go to the bar to take a piss. That's part of my game day experience. If they want to limit that because they are too cheap for security so be it but for $300 a night I think they're idiots.

On an unrelated note I don't understand how anyone goes to the bathroom on the concourse. If I had to go to the bathroom there I would have stopped going to games years ago haha.

I went to The Hip's last show in Calgary. The usher in my section was on the constant lookout for pot smokers. He seemed really uptight and a bit animated about making sure people didn't light up, or put it out. He even got another usher to help him but that usher just shrugged it off and walked away.

Actually, it’s kind of the opposite. Complaining about having to go about vs, complaining about not being able to go outside.
