Is he staying in Canada for the Fourth of July too? That’s not very patriotic of him.

I know a lot of people "support Trump" just to be contrary and for attention...ignore

besides, who cares?

You may have missed the part where he’s been openly offensive to his family and their homosexual family member.

It’s not a political thing. He’s a dick.

Is that the one with the cooler on it? Where'd you get it? I could only find them in the states.

It sure is! I'll find out where they got it, but he just came from Windsor with it, so I wouldn't be surprised if crossed the border

Right?

I'm fairly certain he is, at least they did last year. There's an American contingent that celebrates here.

I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't ultra-popular back home either, so this may be his best option

There's a few supporters here that we have no issue with at all. Very nice people, and we welcome celebrating with them. If they want to talk about the political views it doesn't bother me one bit. Trump means something above politics, and I believe he wants to offend people here with the hat.

A while ago when we heard stories of Americans in Mexico chanting "build the wall", I also didn't think that was ok. They weren't sharing their political views, they wanted to offend their host Mexicans with their President's political promises.

FTR, this dunce kept his distance yesterday. Hoping that is a trend that keeps up today, or at least he decides to be a part of the party if he comes around today.

Happy Canada day everyone! Thanks again for the conversation on this - it's nice to be grounded with outside opinions.

People seem to want to make this about conservatism and people being snowflakes. But that one point is the reason why you don't put up with the guy.

Zero tolerance for me if someone insults family, and he's doing it nearly daily.

What does being a Trump supporter have to do with conservatism? Trump isn't a conservative. Conservative politics are a legitimate political ideology. Supporting Trump suggests something is wrong with you, psychologically, morally or intellectually.

Support for Trump is approaching 90% among republicans. All of Trump's enablers and apologists are republicans. Call it a cult or mass hysteria but I would say conservatism is now completely tied to Trump.

Depressingly...humans are shockingly persuaded by totalitarianism and fascism as options. There have always been those who prefer to let a charismatic leader decide for them what is right/wrong and avoid the hard work of thinking for themselves. There is nothing 'wrong' with them...if anything I think that the 'left' needs to do a better job of offering a viable alternative for some of these folks instead of howling at every Trump supporter.

I think a lot of people would say that "Republican" and "conservative" haven't been common bedfellows for a while now.

By all means, fall right into his trap and act like him in response. Your quiet little cottage weekend is now a microchasm of my entire "embarrassing basement" of a country. Congratulations
