Not even the usual agent supplied banter that he is talking to multiple teams.

Yeah, him definitely. Also a little curious about guys like Riley Nash and Calvin de Haan, haven't seen anything on them at all.

It’s also been suspiciously quiet in Nashville. I have to wonder if something’s up there.

I could see Neal back in Nashville. Was a good fit there, probably didn't want to leave. So long as their were no hard feelings he'd probably head back. Entirely possible he was a player courted by one of the Tavares teams with a handshake agreement in place on terms if they didn't get Tavares.

in other news, the Avs have signed Matt Calvert (#27 on the big board) to a three-year deal, still waiting for exact $$$ but Friedman reporting around $2.8 million per

So far the Tavares deal is the only one I've seen that isn't an overpayment (either in dollar value or term). This day is all about overpayment mistakes - there are no bargains. I hope Neal comes nowhere near the Flames, but I do hope there are some creative trades going forward. One guy who may be decent on a two year deal at most would be Orpik. Good to have as a 6th dman, but I have a doubt he'd come cheap.

by what measure? 11M for an 80 point player is a lot. Not saying I wouldn't do it..and the term is Max. Seems to be in line with the rest of the deals.

He's in the prime of his career, is consistent, has performed in the playoffs when relied on, has done well with and without a supporting cast at various times, outperformed skating expectations from when he was drafted, etc. I do think the lesser hitting division he's in means less wear and tear on his head and body, so the 7 year term probably will work out fine for them. He's shown that he's professional no matter what's thrown at him.
