"Lost respect for him" LOL. Its his career, he doesn't owe NYI #### anymore after how they handled him. If anything I have more respect for Jonny T cause he doesn't settle for that crap anymore and is taking his career and his legacy into his own hands as we all would if we were in his position.

I find it hilarious that Oilers fans are complaining about the Toronto media gushing over Tavares. Hello stove, meet kettle. It's been nothing but a huge lovefest since McDavid fell into their lap. Now that someone is stealing their thunder, they're bitter and jaded. Truly pathetic.

Jesus. You cannot help yourself can you? A regular poster is happy his team made the big signing and you take it upon yourself to piss on his happiness. He's done nothing wrong and yet constable turd burglar rides in on his crusty steed to try and derail a thread and put people down.

You do you man.

Agreed. this notion of 'cap hell' or an albatross contract in its later years is getting to be tired.

I agree, they've always been behind the shadows of the Rangers, and now they lose their franchise player to a big market for nothing.. it really hurt the fan base imo.

Man I can't believe they got him on a 7 x 11

He left a lot of money on the table to go home and he obviously really wants to win.

Be ready to be disappointed. The Leafs will very likely be the next Canadian team to win the Cup in the next few seasons. This signing pretty much seals the deal with Babcock as the coach.

I wonder if the Hurricanes would try and flip Dougie for either Nylander or Marner

good for JT to play for his boyhood club, and not be afraid of living in the fish bowl like so many are. Thats the type of captain a team should want

Also how is this cap hell, they signed a top 5 center in the league. If this forces them to trade nylander or whatever next summer, they now get to trade nylander! For a ton of cheap assets, they arent in a bad position, people will want him! They are better with JT over nylander alone, add in any assets they may get
Well surely you should know how unbearable TSN and RSN is going to be in the coming months, years? It's the same as how a lot of Americans loathe the NY market teams for getting all the media attention. I've always liked Tavares the player but now unfortunately I will be hoping for failure for him and his team. Nothing personal of course as I simply can't stand the Leafs.

Well I was totally wrong, didn't think he'd go to TO. Wasn't thinking of the endorsement money, that had to help his decision.

He will more than make up for that in endorsements in the Toronto market.

The romantic editorial on TSN just now was....something else. Just a step down from Katz and his Bachelorette cringe worthy rose ceremony when they drafted McJesus.

brodie for nylander?
Stone for Kapanen?

Toronto looks to be going for it all and need to better their D...and will need to do it while salaries are low...

Can we make Tavares a swear word on CP? We are going to be bombarded with it for the next seven years.
