Wow that’s about $2 mil more than he’s worth.

It really is.

Reaves is worth maybe a tick or two over a million, but that's it.

With the cap just south of 80 mill it’s about 750k richer than he’s worth and it’s because he took shorter term. It really isn’t as big of an overpayment as some are making it out to be. These types of players wallets grow too when the cap increases.

He was worth it if we got him. If you played hockey these kind of guys can bring the team together. They have more value to the team than just fighting.

Guys whose only true real hockey asset is face punching shouldn't make much if anything over a million dollars ever. Cap hit increasing or not.

Ask TJ Brodie if that’s his only quality. The guy has 6 straight seasons of 200 to 275 hits while averaging 8 to 9 minutes a night. When he’s on the ice he makes use of his time and has provided intimidation and grit to some of the more talented higher end teams over that time frame. Just because he’s good at punching faces doesn’t mean you should pigeon hole into that one facet of the game that he’s clearly elite in. He can hit like a train, stand up for the skilled players on the team and is beloved in the locker room. I would have gladly payed 3x1.8 for intangibles like that.

Unless Reaves can improve his game to another level, most notably his offense which I doubt he can at this point, I'm not convinced he should be worth more than $1.2M a year with his current game.

Blues, Pens and Knight fans all said how he brought the team together.

If he hadn’t fluked out and got traded to a team that went to the finals I’m not sure he would’ve got a contract at all, from anybody.
