^If he can do that again this season it would be the best 800k we ever spent.

By "we" do you mean *all* hyperbolic short sighted arm chair panic mongers? I'm just curious who you're speaking on behalf of.

I'm skeptical that Prout is anywhere near as good as Wotherspoon. Wotherspoon quadrupled him in points and is also much better defensively.
But I guess Prout has that toughness that Wotherspoon has never been able to consistently exhibit.

Would rather of resigned Wotherspoon at that price.

Why would Wotherspoon want to re-sign here. He is probably pretty keen on a fresh chance.

Triggered my peeve.

He means "we" as in the Calgary Flames. The same way I can say "we" put a man on the moon or "we" won WWII, without ever having worked for NASA nor fired a shot during either world war. If you identify with a group, become emotionally attached, buy their merchandise ect, you are absolutely entitled to say "we".

...then on second thought, maybe he just means "we" as in the CP collective.

I fail to see how the professional Calgary Flames will lose their mind. Some of CP will, but those people aren't really the sharpest knives in the drawer.

Default Flames re-sign Dalton Prout (1 yr, 1 way, $800k)

Yes, because we haven’t seen the team stumble out of the gates as they toy around with a stupid “toughness” moves like playing Nick Grossman with Dougie Hamilton or sending Mark Jankowski to the minors and having Tanner Glass stay up on the main roster.

So, do tell how me being critical of silly signings is short sighted. Does Dalton Prout mean long term gain for this organization? Any insight as to what positives he’ll bring to the Flames at the NHL level that will help “us” win games?

Or, continue not to talk about the team and just throw silly insults towards users on CP for no real reason. Have fun.

Oh, here you go again. Top notch. Tossing around insults towards users.

Super duper contributions.

7th defenceman, on the roster that our new coach of the defense had the last year.
New head coach too.
Multiple moves to come in the next hours, days, weeks, months as it relates to roster and depth and roles.
3+ months away from opening puck drop.
Hardly hand wringing time around the player or defense situation in general or the team yet to be overreacting and writing the first line of the 18-19 eulogy.

If the team stumbles out of the gates it’s not going to be likely due to Dalton Prout arguably taking a guy that could use more time on the farm’s, spot, in October.

On top of all that...the Flames NEED bodies, They are at 29 contracts WITH this signing. The guy can/has played at the NHL level...i really fail to understand any opposition to this.

I mean there is still a farm team to fill out.

Do people want an entire system of smallish skill guys or something?

Weird reaction.

Where did I do that? I certainly wasn't trying to say that. I was just being critical of the team signing a player who sat at the AHL level for all of last season. I compared signing Prout to the Grossman and Glass signings, neither of which helped the team in any meaningful way.

I made no comment on the team for the 18/19 season. It was simply a small remark regarding Andersson being sent down in favour of someone with toughness - which is what we saw with Janko last season, and I think the Prout/Glass signings are fairly comparable.

Fair enough, but professional is a defining word here. The actual paid Calgary Flames are a much more specific group than one that would include the fan base.
Comix is right also. No reason to call anyone dim.

Prout was in the organization for half a season on a one-way contract. Did not play more than Andersson when down there nor did he get recalled over Andersson

This signing will have no impact on Andersson

good to add NHL-ready depth who can play a role that no other d-man ahead of him can add

If he plays all the games against Edmonton and keeps Lucic from doing something stupid, it is money well spent. Try tossing Gaudreau again you POS.
