Grit.

Honestly this is status quo as he'll either stay where he was or sit in the pressbox in Calgary.

Probably takes on the Bartkowski 7th D-man role. The young guys need to take the 5th or 6th D-man spots, or else it's better to have them play big minutes in Stockton.

If I'm not mistaken he's the guy who was credited with several assists on the Sportsnet ticker when he wasn't even in the same country. That's sick skills.

Who would have ever guessed that both players in that trade would be re-signed by the teams that picked them up?

One way deal. Is he good enough to be the seventh defenseman?

Or the grizzled ol' vet to show the kids the pro ropes in Stockton?

Probably. He was good enough to be that when he played some NHL games for the Blue Jackets before, so I don't see why not.

He also beat up Lucic a couple times, so there's that too.

He was decent enough.

This has Huska's fingerprints all over it. He must have put in a good word with Treliving.

So if the plan is for Prout at 7D does that mean we could see a trade coming? Stone can be moved as Andersson should take that 6D spot.

He’s basically going to eat popcorn and play the odd game. Pretty much what you want a vet to do instead of having a prospect waste away and not play.

This is good, they missed out on Reaves.

Prout is as good as they come when it comes to toughness and fighting ability. He will be the 8th defence men and only play against big teams as a deterrent. Give a young guy a night off to watch and learn from the pressbox.

they may even play him as a winger if the need that toughness in the lineup without sacrificing the defence.

If they signed Reaves, they'd probably have to play him regularly to justify the contract. At this rate, Prout can play very sporadically and be a locker room guy.

If you can't get a toughie who can play, this is probably the best solution for toughness.

So that is the depth D man acquisition. Don't mind. If he's not deterring ######baggery on the ice he'll enjoy unlimited popcorn in the press box and make some new friends.
