This reminds me of Bollig all over again. We don't need to risk overpaying another tough guy 4th liner who just had an above average year on a cup contrnder

At least we’ve still got Troy Brouwer to skate gingerly away from trouble. That oughta teach ‘em!

Actually it can. You lose games by scoring less than the other team.
Having a tough guy on the bench has zero affect on whether a player gets injured during the course of play.
Antiquated thinking here.

Vegas must know something fans and other teams don't

I think there’s a lot to criticize about Brouwer’s play/usage/pay etc. but failing to standup for teammates is unfounded
Weird player on the roster to pick

2nd half of last year brouwer had a broken jaw/facemask as an excuse for standing by idly watching his teammates get pounded/poked after whistles, sure
What's the excuse for the rest of the time he's been a flame? Doesn't seem odd to me to point out as brouwer doesn't mix it up or come to anyone's aid

The nhl is not figure skating quite yet, he can skate and play a 4th line shift and hits like a tank, he brings a lot this team is lacking. The west is a heavy conference and we are a light team.

Don't care about the narratives as we haven't heard the terms of the contract yet. Glad he's not going to be a Flame as sometimes GM's need a little help from other teams when it comes to avoiding regretful decisions.

There is something wrong with the game if you need a face puncher to avoid concussions to key players.

I dislike Brower on our team as much as the next guy. But I think he showed plenty of toughness when needed. If you hate on Brower at least get it right.

Should’ve scrolled down before responding but this.
He sucks in a number of ways but being a bad teammate simply is untrue.
Although calling in sick a lot of nights would improve the team so meh.

I was livid seeing Minnesota take 15+ hacks before they fractured Johnny's wrist without anyone responding
that's not "antiquated" thinking; i guarantee a guy like Reaves would not have let that happen if he was on the team...

You going to strap Reaves to Johnny’s arm? A tough is never a deterrent. It’s just a fabricated illusion fans make up.

And an illusion some GMs apparently buy into, if the rumors of Reeves being a sought after target by a number of teams around the NHL and if the rumors of VGK signing him are correct...

It's not that he is trash. But I'm still glad he didn't sign here. Coming of a good playoff run, I suspect the financial terms will be shown to be excessive. Kind of like when we signed Brouwer: that was my fear with Reaves. Over pay, over term, and it becomes a massive regret in 2 seasons.
There are lots of players that can add to team toughness. And maybe we can find some that also add to team skill.

I'd bet he took less money to stay with the Knights. I don't think they'd overpay for him; doesn't seem like their style

Spoken like someone who has never played hockey beyond bantam.
Having a big boy who hits like a tank and will punish you for taking liberties is most definitely a deterrent.
