I believe Marty McSorley played the wing early in his career, when he was used strictly as an enforcer, but later became a staple on defence.

Brouwer. My fear is that Reaves will have a similar price tag/term. There is a GM that wants him as much as Treliving wanted Brouwer.

Mmmmmmm. No.

Reaves may get a four year deal, but he will not get anything close to $4.0 m. Moreover, he has never scored or contributed offensively anywhere like Brouwer did in StL.

When Brouwer came in, he was a pretty consistent 20ish goal 40ish point guy, so I don't think he's a comparable to Reaves

I don't want to live on a planet where Ryan Reaves makes $4 million/season salary.

I know you’re not saying this but I want no part of a 4th liner on a 4 year deal. That is just asking for trouble. Anything more than 2 years for Reaves is a mistake for whomever signs him IMO.

Even two years is can be painful for a guy like this as the two year contract the Flames gave to Tim Jackman turned out to be pretty bad for the team.

The more I look at the potential roster with the rumored interest we have, I think its getting clearer that jankowski is sort of an odd man out ( if lindholm is indeed going to be tried at centre, as everyone involved has indicated.)

Does janko maybe have a chance on the top line Rw position? We know he's got a great shot, he cam keep up, he's big and defensively responsible... he could take draws when Monahan is waved. Does anyone see potential in him as a top 6 winger? I'd be interested in trying it

I think its more likely that Lindholm plays on the wing instead of Jankowski. Especially if its on the top line. Lindholm could take the right side draws if needed too.

I totally agree that if you look at it through a gg style line building lens then it seems lindholm would play wing. But he has said he prefers centre, fans said he looks way better as centre, and Peters said he would play him at centre.
If that is the case then where does janko go? He's not displacing Monahan or backlund and he needs wasted on the 4th line, especially if we pick up derek Ryan.

Posts #1,563 and #1,570. Strange Brew and I have both wondered about this. I like Jankowski at centre, but I really think there is merit to this idea.

Agreed

My guess is the top two lines shake out like this to start the season:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm / Bennett
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm / Bennett

Lindholm and Bennett bounce back and forth in an effort to find the best chemistry

This is Bill Peters we're talking about, the guy who came into Carolina and decided Eric Staal was a winger. Don't be surprised if Peters rolls a Monahan-Backlund-Jankowski first line.

TBH though that's not a bad 200ft line. Plus, two finishers on it. I think they'd do alright.

Peters has talked about Lindholm on RW as much as he’s talked about him at centre.

I think until we see more moves I think Lindholm on RW, Janko at C are likely,
