I thought Treliving was the GM of the team, but a player like Reeves being signed, would be so obvious that Burke is still the GM.

Am I doing this right?

And yes I know Burke has moved on.

We should then kill that penalty and move on with our lives.
The key here is the bolded part. This team lacks jam. And often if something is done to Johnny not much is done from our side. With Reaves in the lineup I'm guessing we see a lot less late hits, slashs, cross checks, and agitation of our skilled players.

Beyond that, its more than responding with a retaliatory penalty. This is about making the team tougher, and making other teams think twice before taking liberties. Which would allow more room on the ice for our skill guys to do their thing.

Reaves would be a big add IMO. Especially out West.

People can hate on the idea of Reaves for a few reasons, and I agree this should definitely NOT be a combo, but slow he is not.

In the last game against the Sharks (in SJ) I just remember Evander Kane being physical against the Flames; beating Hamonic in a fight and I think Hathaway as well, and just being a prick in-between.

Skip forward to the SJ-LV series. San Jose was physically pushing the Knights around but then LV took the series over when Reaves was inserted into the lineup.

I think Reaves helps this team a lot and I hope it happens.

I'm all for this move if it happens. Trade Brouwer to another team.

I like this move for one reason only - Connor McDavid. No, I don’t imagine he’s gonna run around and crush McDavid, although he will if he gets his shot.

Teams that have had success against McDavid have abused him. The Flames have never done this and they need to. If you’re going to pick on him though, you must be able to deal with the response. Ryan Reeves will help with that, he absolutely will.

When you have one of the smallest guys on your team as your best player, it's a great idea to have the toughest guy on your team as well.

He really doesn’t like it. Some players elevate their game by getting physical like Iggy, Crosby, Ovechkin.

McDavid completely shuts down.

If Reeves is out when McDavid is out we have a problem. That problem is going to be when McDavid zooms by and scores.

This is such an interesting off-season.

All decisions from Peters to Hamilton trade to signing Reaves/Ryan... It seems like CP can't get consensus on any move. This is not usually the case as the majority fall on one end or the other.

He crushes him early and McDavid takes the rest of the night off. Plus it gets infectious. He does it, Tkachuk and Bennett get excited, so does Hamonic, Gio and maybe even Stone.

What there needs to be an answer for is big dumb Lucic and big dumb Nurse.
If that answer is a 35% pp against them, that works for me. Otherwise there has to be somebody to stand up to those blockheads.

Reaves is never going to even get close to McDavid.

If Brouwer could have been traded without keeping a bunch of salary, or taking back equally bad salary, it would have been done by now.

Reeves isn't super slow. He isn't the fastest skater but he can move around really well.

That said, McDavid is going to zoom by nearly everybody.

Lol, that is what I was thinking. It would be a mismatch to have him on the ice against McDavid unless you were down some huge amount.

We missed moving Brouwer by not giving Vegas a prospect or draft pick to take Brouwer in the expansion draft.

Reaves would have trouble catching McDavid in a phone booth.

Just because McDavid is fast doesn't mean he's smart at avoiding hits. Brodie is fast and Reaves destroyed him.

Plus Nurse is an a-hole and...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDVk8o4wMJA
