I believe there was a team trading for Lucic and then flip him for Skinner. My guess is Edmonton backed off because who they were trading Lucic to was in the west and don’t want to be responsible for Skinner playing against them 4-6 times a year.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Re: Rieder
Given the Flames had strong interest before he was moved to L.A. I would imagine they are one of the teams kicking tires again.

Shannon on 960 says if Lightning get Tavares, he can see them moving Kucherov. Says they were disappointied in his playoff performance.

Makes sense. I would move a ton to get Kucherov. Valimaki would be on the table + a lot more.

I can see Treliving backing the truck up if Kucherov becomes available.

The guy has 59 pts in 62 career playoff games.
Compare that to Stamkos who has 51 pts in 66 career playoff games.
Feels like they are making up a reason to trade a 24 year old 100 point player.
I could see a 3 team trade where one team gets Kucherov, Tampa gets Karlsson, and Ottawa getting all the picks/prospects being an intriguing deal though.

If by backing up the truck you mean including Tkachuk (which Tampa would insist on I expect) I'll say no he won't.

100 points this season, 17 points in 17 games to lead his team in the playoffs. It's not like he completely disappeared in the playoffs. If you're disappointed with a player putting up a point-per-game in the playoffs, that's the exact player you want to build the team around.
Of course it would depend on what they got for Kucherov, but if it's Valimaki as the center piece, it makes so much more sense just to hold onto the guy.

He is in line for a $8M+ contract next year. No way they can sign him if they add JT that is why it makes sense imo.
I don’t think the Flames would have the assets to land him. They could gut their prospect pool and add another first and have a competitive offer but I see a lot of other teams that can make a better deal.

If the Bolts sign JT and trade Kucherov it would be pretty solid asset management IMO.
JT plays the more important position and would make the Bolts ridiculously deep at center with Tavares, Stamkos, Point and Johnson. Miller can also play C.
Plus the haul they would get from dealing Kucherov would be enormous.

No they wouldn’t.... I would expect they want picks or more cost controlled players. If they move Kucherov it is because they sign JT and cap becomes a serious issue going forward.

How would they pay Tkachuk next year?
The Flames offer would probably include Janko+Bennett+Valimaki+1st perhaps a Dube or Parsons as well?
The core would be Monahan, Gaudreau, Kucherov, Tkachuk, Lindholm, Hanifin, Andersson as players 25 or younger but with very little in the pipeline coming up.

Maybe a combo of those assets?
There are a lot of teams with better assets they likely move but the Lightning would probably prefer to move him to the west.
I doubt they get JT anyway

Would anyone consider this?
Michael Stone and Troy Brouwer for Bobby Ryan? Cap hit would be about even straight across Might help extend Mark in Ottawa too.

I wish I could be disappointed in one of our players only getting a point per game in the playoffs.
