Iginla, Jagr and the Sedins, I believe, are the only non-active Art Ross Winners yet to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Jagr and the Sedins played last year, Iginla has stated his intentions to try and remain playing. None qualified to be inducted. So yeah, Art Ross Trophy is probably a pretty good lock to make the Hall.

Jaime Benn is probably the least likely Art Ross Winner to make the HOF.

While St. Louis may in fact be a shoe, he is by no means a shoo-in.

You're actually only the second person I've seen even bring up the concussion lawsuit. Most people who are annoyed with Bettman's election are complaining about the labour disputes, or saying he shouldn't be inducted while still serving - even though that's been the norm for NHL presidents in the past.

Shameful that Paul Henderson is not in the HHOF.

If Bernie Federko is the water mark then I don't have any problems with the current batch.

Also why is Bettman not in the builder category?

St. Louis is a POS. He should never have be inducted. He has more games, less goals, less points than theo. Just as one comparison. His cup came with a major asterix. He bullied and pouted his way onto a team Canada team he hardly even played for but people add that to his medal count (think he played in 1-2 of the more meaningless games). Also, hes just a generally miserable sack of ####. cried and cried about a spin-o-rama shootout goal, then went and did it himself about a month later, just for an example.

Hes just not worthy of any honour, let alone HHOF.

thought you'd forgive the spin-o-rama thing, as wasn't it an oiler goal he was crying about?

I don't know though. under current standards for on ice play, I think he is a hall of fame player.

If I made the call, he wouldn't be. it's now more the "hall of pretty good players and those who played for a long time"

there really should be a higher standard.

It is really cool that Willie O’Ree goes in while he is still alive.

Sorry to hijack. But when Iginla is eligible (or is he now?) will he be a “shoe-in”?

Minimum 3 years retired. Has he even filed his papers? If and When he is eligible he should be a shoe in his first year.

I think it's normally 5 years after they stop playing.

he'll be in first year he's eligible

Also off topic, but I wonder if or when Jagr hangs them up if he gets his waiting period waived.

He better, or he'll likely be dead after the 5 year wait, as I expect he'll be playing until he's 92.

I am not getting the Mike Vernon love. In my mind, he was a pretty good goalie, but seldom was he considered an elite goalie. He is also an awful person so he gets no points there.

To me he's no better than Chris Osgood, and does anyone talk about him being in the HOF?

2 cups, Conn Smythe, and 5 time allstar. Vernon should be in.

Vernon was a great goalie and has the hardware to back it up, but I'm not sure if I ever remember him to be considered amongst the truly elite even in his time...ie amongst goalies like Roy, Brodeur, Hasek, Belfour. Now some of those guys are all-time legends, and it depends on your HOF standards, but personally I think you need to be amongst the best of your generation if you want to be considered one of the best of all time.

Was Vernon? I think it's debatable, and probably why he's not it at the moment.
