I don’t dislike guys like Versteeg or DSP by any means, but if we’re already bringing in Derek Ryan, I’d rather we use the rest of our spots to shoot for a big fish and let some young guys come in on the bottom six.

I’d rather us focus on speed and creativity, I think Lindholm and Ryan (again, if the rumours are true) bring a good enough two-way game to improve us on that side already.

He'll sign with the Sens. He played well with Duchene and knowing Melnyk's focus on revenue, signing a former 1st-overall pick will sure sell jerseys. It makes too much "Sens".

So far the somewhat interesting names on the unqualified list (most probably of little interest to the Flames)

Forwards:
Nail Yakupov
Tobias Rieder
Riley Sheahan
Devante Smith Pelley
Shane Prince
Logan Shaw
Tomas Jurco
Anthony Duclair

Goalies:
Zach Fucale
Petr Mrazek
Robyn Lehner
Ken Appleby

Defence:
Jordan Subban
Joe Morrow
Freddy Claesson
Derrick Pouliot
Dylan DeMelo
Daniel Carr
Duncan Siemens

I still remember some people on here and other forums considering the 2016 6th overall pick for Mrazek+. Goalies are so unpredictable.

Was there any update on the severity of his knee injury late last season (Duclair)? Could that be a reason that he wasn't qualified?

I guarantee that Rittich will win more NHL games this year than Mrazek will. The guy is a headcase.

Just say no to DSP.

I like DSP and he was key for the Caps playoff run, but he was fairly inconsistent during the year, benefited greatly by playing with Jay Beagle and is going to look to get a massive pay raise because of the Cup run.

If the Flames sign him he'll easily replace Brouwer as this team's whipping boy...

I kinda want to see Yak get an invite to camp. Imagine if he broke out for us? It wouldn't happen I know but damn that would be glorious!

I was one of them. I don't know how his career went so off the rails. He should have been an elite #1 for years

Too bad he's a left hand shot. Otherwise he would check a lot of boxes:

- RW
- Young
- Speedy
- Good shooter
- Potential to piss off Oilers if he boomed

I haven't followed Fucale at all since the draft, but surprised he has not been qualified. He must not have been developing well at all.

He was getting lit up in the coast a couple seasons back, though he started to look like himself this past season once again at times.

Still a young guy however.

Yak has had several chances. Why would it be different here?
