Arg, close game for the Bruins. We lose Ballard and Burns to injuries. Could have been another win for the kids if we'd stayed healthy.

In other news the Bruins have re-signed potential UFA Mike Knuble to a 3 year contract at $5 mill per year.

Carnival boy steals the show. At least I scored a couple goals tonight. Send your trade offers, looking for young players.

Niedermayer sends Niewendyk off to a nice retirement by injuring him at 4:32 of the third. Niewendyk did however score in his final CPHL game as he tallied his 7th of the season 5:59 into the first period giving the Leafs a 2-0 lead at the time. But the Jackets responded with the games final 5 goals to take this one 5-2 winning their 2nd in a row and 4th in their last 5.

Erik Cole and Peter Cajanek returned from long layoffs on IR and both scored goals. Alexander "I am not a Khavanov, Miroslav Satan, and Cory Stillman also scored for the Jackets. Scott Niedermayer has woke up again and had 3 assists for the BJ's tonight before he realized that Joe Niewendyk is retired and shouldn't be playing and took matters into his own hands with the ever dangerous hooking minor and a game misconduct. Manny Legace also returned to the Jackets net and turned in a solid effort turning aside 27 of the 29 shots faced. With backup Brent Johnson having won 4 straight starts Legace is starting to feel a little pressure to keep his job as the number one goalie.

What's more is my AHL coach kept Montoya in for all 19. And Roy thought he had it rough!

My team really seems to be slipping of late. I think I only have about 2 wins in the last 8 or 9.

Is the average goaltending catching up? Or is it the fact that Weekes is perhaps overplayed?

Yotes tame Fuzzy Bears 4-3.

It took a big 2nd period where Phoenix scored all 4 of their goals to win.
The big 4 of Sundin Yashin, Handzus and Sykora annd scored within a 10 minute period (including 2 goals 20 seconds apart.

For the 2nd night in a row the Dogs swept the Stars.
Game Stars
1 - Petr Sykora (COY)
2 - Martin Rucinsky (COY)
3 - Alexei Yashin (COY)

The Cotes fly home to host the Rags tomorrow night.

Howe Conference has something to smile about as the Avs upset the league-leading Panthers. It was an ugly win, with both goalies being pulled, but a win nonetheless. Blake with a strong game against his former team.

The leaders bounce back after a horrible game versus the Devils. New comer, Jere Lehtinen, makes his presence felt on the scoreboard, as he kick starts the power play. With Prospal in the box for head butting, which somehow did not net a game misconduct, Lehtinen set up Martin Stlouis to open the scoring. On the same powerplay 15 seconds later, Lehtinen set up rarely used Steve Montador for his first of the season. Before the period was over, Lehtinen would set up Jiri Fischer for a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Unfortunately, for the Habs, Daniel Alfredsson was injured on a freak play which saw Sabres Defenseman Kalinin get a game misconduct for hooking. Alfredsson would leave the game after only 5minutes of ice time.

The remainder of the game, saw ex-Sabre Brian Rolston dominate. After tallying an assist in the first period, Rolston scored unassisted half way through the second period. Stealing the puck off a Sabre Dman, Rolston broke in on Goalie Curtis Sanford and beat him with a wrist shot low to the stick side. The Sabres looked to have found some momentum to carry them into the 3rd period when they scored with less than a minute to go in the second. However, Rolston kicked off a play which saw Martin St.louis go in on a 2-1 with Sergei Fedorov. The vets made no mistake in the dying seconds when Stlouis faked a shot and slid the puck to Fedorov. The Sabres argued the clock had expired, however, the replay clearly showed the puck crossed the line with two-hundredths of a second remaining.
Ruslan Fedotenko, began the third period by pulling the Sabres back within 3 goals. However, once again, the Rolston, Federov, St.Louis combination stopped any momentum, when Federov converted another easy set-up and pu tthe Habs up 6-2. Fedotenko would add a goal late in the third period but the Habs would go on to win 6-3. Despite the win Vokoun was shakey, allowing 3 goals on 16 shots.

The Habs have a night off to rest before meeting up with their biggest rival, the Carolina Hurricanes. GM Beerfund was the first GM of the Hurricanes in the inagural season of the CPHL. A personal situation forced Beerfund to step aside part way through the second year, the reins were handed to Hanna Sniper. Several weeks later, Beerfund was lured back to the CPHL to help rescue a sinking franchise in Montreal. Historical ties, intra-division competition and mutual respect has driven this rivalry since the second season of the CPHL.
