Monday is off in-lieu like literally every other Stat, unless your work is a garbage fire.

Was just looking at our Calendar and nothing. Might be a calender issue, I never pay attention to these things.
Guess I'll be asking the question. That would give me a short week and then a week away from the city during Stampede.

For Canada Day I believe it is explicit ithat if it falls on a Sunday, the Monday is a holiday.

Well next week isn't a weekend, so maybe you mean next weekend? Well no, next weekend (July 7-8) is not a long weekend unless you get parade day off. THIS weekend though (June 30-July 1) is a long weekend with July 2nd being the extra day.

NEXT weekend and THIS weekend are the same weekend.
Next is clearly short hand for the next weekend that will occur so potentially NEXT weekend becomes July 7/8 on Friday perhaps Saturday but certainly not before.

Incorrect.
If someone wants to know what you are doing on the upcoming weekend it should only be referred to as "this" weekend. The weekend after "this" weekend is "next" weekend.
Don't even bother replying because you are incorrect good sir.

I am going camping next weekend but not the next weekend that occurs. It makes no sense. Come back Friday and you can be right then

This weekend is this weekend. Next weekend is the weekend after this weekend.

On Sunday July 1st when is next weekend? On Monday July 2nd when is next weekend, On Tuesday July 3rd when is next weekend.
Yours is the date that changes depending on the day. My Next weekend is always the NEXT weekend. Also urban dictionary says I'm right.

July 2 next weekend is the 7th
July 3 next weekend is the 7th
