Peter's wasn't fired, the Flames in doing their due diligence wouldn't trade for a player that couldn't stand the coach, because frankly if they asked Peter's his thoughts on Linholm and his relationship with Lindholm, guess who's getting fired if its a lie.

This whole story to me is pretty much crap without proof.

And starts it with so it begins.

Are you sure you didn't read a Carolina's fans opinion on HF, substituted in that he was a friend of a friend of a player and voila gave yourself more credibility?

Its interesting I'll give you that, I still have some fears of Janks centering that line.

I'm wondering if the new coach sees Backlund as a surefire 2C. With his impressive showing at the Worlds captaining Sweden to Gold, I wonder if he'll get a chance with better wingers to stay Defensive, but as some more offence to his game.

Something like
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Bennett - Backlund- Tkachuk
Frolik - Jankowski - Foo/EatBread/NewGuy
Dube - Shore - Brouwer

I'm not even a fan of Peters, but the notion that he would ask to acquire a player who hates his guts is ludacris.

For me the mitigating factor in this trade is the fact that Peters knows them so well and how to use them. If he wasn't here I'd be much more down on this trade.

I still would have liked a pick or prospects coming back for the package we gave them but that's splitting hairs.

I think ROR will be the next new Flame. I'm not sure what the Flames will give up for him.

would love to see Lindholm slot in as 2C with Bennett on the left and Chuckie on the right.

Yes its not really an experienced line but I really think getting more out of the youth on this team will be what takes us to the playoffs or not.

if Bennett gets some of the ferland minutes or can play LW with Backlund and Chuckie with lindholm on line 1 either way I think we have a solid top 6.

“It’s Geoff’s (associate coach Geoff Ward) power play, and we’ll be moving guys around, but we’ll also be adding some power play help when we get back to Calgary (through free agency),” said Peters, who coached Saturday’s acquisitions Hanifin and Elias Lindholm in Carolina.
My guess is Thomas Vanek if he was referring to a specific player.

He has said in the past he doesn't mind playing on short term deals. Likely because he hit the RFA payday jackpot early in his career.

Fairly one dimensional but would be be worth a one or two year contract at $3 to 3.5M?

I bet Ryan gets signed, and then I hope Brad does whatever it takes to get Byron back

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Bennett-Backlund-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Frolik
Byron-Ryan-Lazar/Hathaway/Brouwer

Thats a quality lineup if Bennett steps up and Mangiapane is as good as he should be.

Realistic/hopeful

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Zucker
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik
Mangiapane - Ryan - Lazar

Brouwer 13th forward/buried but highly unlikely
Maybe Janko swapping with Backlund as well.

There was also the tweet from the Carolina guy saying he didn’t want to sign so the “pay back” was trading him to peters team. It might be nothing but he did say he wasn’t happy with his usage last year.

I want to angrily reject this, but I won't because I don't want to discourage any sort of input. I will say you could have expressed it better. You quite literally framed this potentially poor news with "So... it begins" and "another disappointing season"
I am not accusing you of it, but that is how a troll would frame it.
Anyhow - thanks for the tidbit. I also hope it is either untrue or a jaded view from a explayer who didn't like Peters.

Sounds like Ferraro's understanding was wrong.

Seems like the most likely answer instead of scenarios where Peters was asked about Lindholm and lied or Treliving ignored his input.

Seriously people how bad could that relationship have been? You think Treliving wouldn't consult his new head coach about the deal he was about to complete with Peters' former team?

Also what player doesn't have issues with their head coach at some point?

Not sure what Ferraro is out to prove but IMO nothing to see here

Mike Babcock is universally loved by all his players, past, present and future. Same with Scotty Bowman and Daryl Sutter.

I don't care that Lindholm doesn't like playing for Peters, I just care that Peters makes Lindholm play well.

After having I'm-your-best-friend-coach bomb so miserably here the past two seasons, I welcome a coach who keeps the players on their toes and a little uncomfortable.

and I'm not even a fan of the Peters hire.

Yeah, I tend to think that this is not such a serious issue as to warrant much concern. I don’t doubt that half of NHL players are less than enamoured by their coaches.

Zucker is a left shot LW.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
Zucker - Backlund - Lindholm
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik

He's listed as a left shot LW however his primary time is playing the right side off wing as RW.
(to clarify I'd take him either way myself, hes exactly what we need but price may be high)
