Gio-Brodie
Hanifin-Stone/Hamonic
Kulak-Andersson
With Valimaki and Kylington as dark horses to steal a spot in camp.

Why do you need to clear space out? You need 7 defenceman. If Anderson is as good as hope he is, he will force Stone to the press box.
You keep Stone around in case any of the top 4 get injured.

Those of us who have been driving the Get Rid of Hamilton wagon for a couple years now, can just sit back and smile.
The clincher has to have been the sour grapes from him when Freddie was dealt to Arizona. It was so obvious in how he so poorly handled media questions on it.
Good riddance.

Don't want to throw any more shade on the guy, but my friend is friends with Dougie.
With that being said, the speculation is not unwarranted. He's a good person, but hard to get along with for various reasons.

That's where I am. I like the two players, I don't like the trade.
I'm not going to Costco though.

No. It was a clear hose job to undermine one persons opinion. There was ZERO harm in what i said and somehow managed to summon the trolls from under the bridge to flex their mental muscle and act superior.

Sorry but as a guy that was a major part of the team who failed miserably, he was just as responsible to answer the tough questions as his teammates were.
They all manned up and did so...where was he? There are obviously some character issues of some sort around the guy and this is but one example. Whether or not you put a lot of stock into such things or not is irrelevant. His management team certainly does.
there is a reason he has been dealt twice before age 25 when some consider him a franchise type defenseman. Hard to argue that its because of whatever it is with him that happens behind the scenes.

I think that's more him saying, in response to a direct question about the locker room, that he doesn't talk about the locker room, but they take everything into consideration.

I think Brad will further address our forward group with one more top 6 winger this summer. I don't think it would be Van Riemsdyk though as he had Calgary on his no trade list.

In BT we trust, so I will wait until December to really get on him.

he'll be equally happy in Carolina then. Hamilton, Faulk, Slavin, Pesce, Bean, Fleury, McKeown ...

Why? Answer the tough questions? They're not tough questions, they're just the same questions over and over leading to the same boring answers over and over and they really don't do anything to make the team better, which is all that matters.
Again, Kipper did the same thing, people didn't seem to mind much then, other than media types.

Flames are a little short in the truculence department now. Need a Ferland replacement, albeit for the third/fourth line.
Lomberg is likely the closet comparable in the system, but lacks size.

Wonder if there were issues between Gaudreau and Hamilton. Hanifin is from Boston and went to Boston College. Maybe this is a move to appease Gaudreau.

My question would then be...how do you acquire the two players you like without giving something you don't like giving up?
Seems impossible...no?

I think that this is a good hockey trade. I liked Hamilton and Ferland, but I get what the Flames are doing. Not surprised to hear Fox was not signing here (honestly was surprised Johnny signed here - he was pretty close to being a free agent and signing where ever he wanted). I think that Ferland was going to demand more money than he was worth based on his recent performance. I hope that the RFA thing isn't a problem for new guys and they are both signed to reasonable deals ASAP.

Maybe we'll look at this trade one year from now and wonder how we fleeced Carolina so badly.. A complete opposite from the Hamonic deal where everyone was all high in praise about the trade(at the time of the trade).

And Freddie played 42 games here over 2 seasons, never getting sent back down to Stockton to get playing time. He was here then only to be Dougie’s safety blanket. When Treliving cut the cord and remove that distraction and excuse from the room around New Years, Hamilton hasn’t wanted to talk about it.

Lindholm had 1 goal from Feb to the last game of the season. What a great trade.
