Adam Fox is on track to be a great NHL player. Flames have done a lot of work in trying to gauge his desire to be a Flame down the road. Clearly they got the indication Fox wasn't crazy about coming to Calgary.

Adam Fox will go back to Harvard this season for his junior year but this trade from CGY to CAR enhances the likelihood of him turning pro after this coming season.

Yeah I think that's the plan. But short term this is a downgrade.
Hanifin had 4th most ice time in total but that's because he played PP. His 5v5 icetime was around 17min/game.

Why not? Aho and Teravainen can set up a sniper like him just fine. He has the speed, skill, size, and discipline teams covet. I wouldn't be surprised if he became a perennial 30g guy.
|
Those guys are wingers. Last I looked Lindholm was between them. I believe they will play on a line with Falk.

It's because I woke up to the news and had to wade through the thread first while ranting with friends and family to calm down...

Yeah, let’s take coaching advice from Rod Brind’Amour. He of 0-games head-coaching experience.

I'm not going to continue to research for you, you can keep looking at the stats and see for yourself if your interested. All signs point to Hanifin being better.
What you're not taking into consideration is the fact that Calgary has been pretty open about wanting to trade Dougie for months now, which would indicate there's something fishy behind the scenes. This wasnt just a hockey trade for "fun" there's some underlying issues that we may or may not ever become privy to.

Well I hope Lindholm and Hanifin enjoyed having Peters as their coach in Carolina, because surprise!

Not my assertion, it was Rod Brind'Amour's.

I don’t buy the loner thing, he seemed engaged with teammates in public at least, charity events, photobombing everything, being one of the handful of guys that show up in the ugly sweater kind of things

Unless Hanifin becomes the next Pronger Tre got robbed. Even if he becomes as good as Hamilton Fox + Ferland > Lindholm.
Wow. Just wow. I kept looking for "and a 2019 first round pick".
|
In what world is Fox + Ferland > Lindholm?
A guy who was carried by Johnny and Mony to a 20 goal season, he wouldn't have hit 20 points if he wasn't playing with them. Plus Fox probably wasn't even going to sign here, so trading those two specifically for Lindholm is a win for Calgary

Lifetime Suspension

I see this as an initial loss that could very well end up being a big win if the players coming in fill out their ceilings and Ferland fizzles out like he did without star players and fox ends up being a tough sign which he very well could be.
Carolina doesn't have the kind of players that will elevate Ferland like mony and Johnny did here. Which is why it was silly to add him specifically, since he's much more useful as a flame.

Agreed on Fox
Agreed on Ferland's concussions
Agreed on Dougie
Dont mind Hannafin. Dont mind Lindholm
But i think we gave up too much in the trade

Flames have been trying to move dougie for 18-20 months if you listen to some sources.
