I don't love losing Fox here, but I really like Lindholm a lot (I wanted him when we got Monahan).
I think the difference between Hamilton and Hanifin is not that big.

I'm really excited for this season!

Great trade, but can understand that some posters thinking Adam Fox was the straw that broke the trade in Calgary's eyes.

Hamilton = Hannifin
Lindholm > Ferland
Fox = All signs point to him not interested in signing

I said it before and I'll say it again, if Lindholm is inserted on the top line RW spot with Sean and Johnny he will easily match Ferlands 21g. We now have a trigger man with a right hand shot which we desperately needed. I still think we need 1 more complimentary forward in the top 6 to make us complete.

Hannifin is seriously underrated on here, he's going to be a stud D man with more offensive upside then Dougie. Maybe not this year but give him 1-2 more years and I'm willing to bet on 45+ points.

More like a playmaking / two-way center winger. Something like Backlund except Backs is better imo.

Had to think Fox would have earned more than a throw in. Burkovsky off of Washington comes to mind.

At the moment Hamilton > Hanifin and Lindholm >Ferland. However, both Hanifin and Lindholm have greater upside than their counterparts. So value is at least equal and maybe in favour of Hanifin and Lindholm. Plus they will be cheaper after their next respective contracts all things considered. I think that Fox is (a) a signing issue and (b) not the A level prospect some think he is - he's undersized and one dimensional.

So I don't think this trade is a huge win, but not some ripoff either. It's at least partly about how it makes the team look going forward.

I love this deal.

Hanifin is a bang on replacement for Dougie. People aren't gonna miss him at all.

Lindholm is a huge upgrade on Ferland. Loved Ferly but he's done zilch since the playoffs against Vancouver.

Fox I'm sad to lose but he likely wouldn't have signed here and he's only a prospect. Could be the next Letang or could be the next Tom Erixon. I'm not concerned.

Really surprised to see Hamilton move. Hopefully Hanafin can progress well and good Brodie can return.

Brodie has to perform now. That's an awful awful risk to take given how brutal he has been for he last two seasons.

I think we lost this trade. Hanifin has not looked as good as Hamilton at any level. Lindholm is a nice addition but I still think it doesn't make up the loss of dougie. Fox should have gotten us a bit more.

I like both of the players the Flames are getting back. But a steep price. Treliving can't seem to get a fair deal done.

Ferland was dropped from top line and Jagr was playing up thet before Jagr injury number 1.
Ferland also really dogged it the last 2 calender months of the year. I know he had an injury there but his history of disappearing isn't good.
He's not a top line winger by far, and isn't really a for anywhere else.
He'd have been gone a year ago had he not had a hot streak when forced on the top line two seasons ago because he was silent for a year and a half after the Vancouver playoff series.

And if Fox wasn't 100% likely to sign, which didn't seem the case, cut bait.

The fact that our new coach also had these guys and they know him and he knows them, is not to be overlooked.

Hanifin is going to be a stud, but Hamilton already is. I guess we're buying a few years of youth.

Does Hanifin have better "defensive" accolades though? Anyone know?

A lot of people confuse Ferland with Ferkland. Not sure what happened to Ferkland but he hasn't been around for a couple of years.

3 week old article on how amazing Hanifin is and how the Canucks should trade for him. So glad we got him.

I think if these two guys played anywhere but the Hurricanes, the general concensus would be a lot more favourable towards them.

These are two incredibly talented, young, well-rounded players.

Anyone knows how Hanifin plays in his own end? For all of Hamilton’s strengths offensively he could never play without Gio either
