His oldest son is not quite the age to be drafted. He is like 10-12 ish. It must be the son of a different person.

6'4" 217 lbs... If that goaltending thing doesn't work out, he could become an enforcer.

Do teams test or care how well a goalie can skate?

If the Flames were going to go with a goalie, there may be none left lol. A lot of goalies going.

3rd round...if your first name does not begin with the letter J, your chances of being selected are minimal.

Lauko (45), McLaughlin (51) and Nordgren (55) the only remaining TSN Top 62 picks still left on the board after 73 picks.

Coyotes trade 74 (Calgary's 3rd round pick) to Blackhawks for 87 and 142

We are now 31 picks from the Flames pick

Jesus this is the most boring nhl draft I've ever seen. Flames have no picks due to a colossal whiff of a trade and absolutely no interesting moves happening.

I’m shocked by the lack of activity. By far the worst draft I’ve ever watched as far as entertainment value. Add the kovy signing(hope he gets a sunburn) and it’s been a crappy draft weekend so far.

Flames still have a solid asset...better player than 80% of the guys drafted this weekend will ever become.

Not to mention they could easily trade him for a first at a future deadline should the team struggle.

Look at all the teams that traded first for rentals and didn't win the cup and have zero to show

I live in BC and none of the people I talk to about hockey are Flames fans, yet the general comment about the team is that they are a bunch of really good young players. Funny thing is most of the people I talk hockey with are former high-level junior players or amateur coaches.

I still feel pretty good about this team, and theres always tomorrow for management to improve. I wouldn't have traded Sam Bennett for a single one of those skinny kids drafted after the scorer that fell to Detroit (don't want to butcher his name)!
I've always felt ok about the team; the failure to make the playoffs always struck me as things outside of purely personnel...mostly GG and some of the weird player decisions

now that doesn't mean i think the flames are world beaters either. They are a fringe playoff team.

WRT the draft odds comments, maybe its simply due to the fact Calgary isn't picking until the 4th round... but the reality is that on any contender, the core is always drafted....

Sure there might be one or two players who are traded for that augment that group, but typically teams don't trade away blue chip players and if they do, its for another blue chip player or its for a bunch of picks...
