Why do all the twitter links say “page doesn’t exist”? I wish I could read these.

I don't get it. Was there something going on in Washington that made him leave?

I'll bet JT stays on the Island now. Shows they are serious about trying to become contenders by grabbing a winner, and not cheaping out.

I always have to click on the image of the tweet. If I click on the link underneath I get the same message as you.

Like the asst. coach to be taking over head coaching duties?

"Reirden was promoted to associate coach in August 2016 after Calgary had passed on him. Since then, the Caps have not allowed him to interview with other teams for head coaching positions. The implication was clear, this was someone the team wanted to keep."

"You know I think we've been grooming him to be a head coach whether for us or someone else," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan Monday.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if Trotz would take this job without an assurance that Tavares will be back.

Tavares is the only one who could give such an assurance. Although it certainly seems he will re-sign with the Islanders, my hunch is that Trotz was not hung up on that.

Meh Babcock took the Leafs job when they were one of the worst teams in the league. All you have to do is pay someone enough money

The Islanders have really improved their front office in the off-season. However, the real question is: How old is Wang's kid now and will he be attending the draft?

The whole Trotz was automatically extended if he won the cup thing has me thinking. Trotz must have went to ownership and had a discussion come the 3rd round about the possibility of winning the cup and how if he did, he wanted a mutual release.

As big as it is on his resume, we are talking about him making 2.2m less this year by winning the cup had the caps not let him walk on his contract. Surely a coach would lose sleep at night going back and forth between a cup on the resume or 2.2m. I am not sure the cup brought him any higher of a salary from the Islanders as he is already a proven coach and got over the 2nd round struggles this year.

After all these years of clown show repeats it took the potential of losing their franchise player to finally trigger changes that needed to be made years ago. Finally good days ahead for Islanders fans.

Had the caps not let him walk? He resigned.

He was under contract for this coming year which would prevent him from signing the deal he did with the Islanders unless the Caps allowed the contract to be terminated.

Thats not how I understood it.

If he won the cup he had the option to get and extension worth 1.8M

If that’s the case, I was mis informed and all makes sense.
