Can people stop quoting GoJetsGo, the guy is nothing more than verbal diarrhea who flip flops opinions all day long. One minute he hates a player the next you'd swear they were high school sweethearts taking a secret to the grave.

And if you don't share their opinion on a hockey take its "ridiculous" "a leap" etc etc

GoJetsGo is probably still pissed the Jets lost to the Preds. As a Jets fan I think he had high hopes they would make it to the finals.

Back to rumors.

On TSN they were saying Buffalo is probably asking for the 3rd OA pick from Montreal for ROR.

  • He was not considered for the World Cup North America team, being passed over in favour of several players with less NHL experience.
  • Again, turned down an invite to the 2017 World Championships.
  • Was apparently not even invited to this year's World Championships team.

That should give some insight into Hamilton's give-a-crap meter and how he's regarded by the hockey community at large. It's not exactly the resume of a guy in whom the competitive fires blaze brightly.
These are the kinds of opinions we saw from Oilers fans and media before and just after the Hall trade.

This situation is so eerily similar and the result of trading Hamilton will be equally disappointing, but even less acceptable when we just watched our moron neighbors to the north do the exact same thing to justify trading a valuable player for lesser parts.

In Winnipeg this morning their local radio is pushing the idea that Cheveldayof wants to move Tyler Myers for a 1st. The general feeling is that they won’t be able to re-sign Myers after this season and as such they think he could get moved over the next day or two.

The same Winnipeg panelists think it’s foolish to trade Dougie Hamilton.

To be honest it could also just be Dougie wanting to spend some time at home after a long NHL season. We've had a ton of players consistently decline invites to the World Championships and most of us didn't even care, not sure why Dougie is a exception to that.

I don't recall too many people calling out Iginla for never accepting invites for the World Championships. Sure Iggy had a family most of those years he declined but the fact is he simply didn't want to go to Europe after the season because lots of guys with families still go if they want to. I fail to see how Hamilton should be looked at any differently here. It's a tournament North Americans don't care about and after a long and disappointing NHL season I don't see why it has to be looked at as mandatory for these guys to just want to hop on a plane overseas to play with a team quickly thrown together to play for a trophy that's not overly important to a lot of players.

Is this value about right for Hamilton?

Hamilton to Arizona for #5 and Galchenyuk?

Hamilton to the Jackets for Panarin signed (can you sign him for Hamilton dollars?)

I feel like that would be counterproductive for MTL. But I also think MTL needs to blow it up and go full rebuild; trade Patches, Weber, Price, etc...

But what do I know.

Thinking Montreal ends up with both ROR & Stastny. They have cap space and need centres. They'll probably get ROR prior to July 1 and pay his bonus in exchange for giving up fewer assets.

Makes me a bit sad. I thought ROR would end up in Calgary.

The value is good but I don’t see why either team would make those deals. Arizona maybe #5 and Strome
I don’t see where Hamilton fills a need on Columbus.

Boomer and Kerr were discussing how Brooks was linking Adam Fox to the Rangers a few weeks ago, and Zibanejad would be right near the top of my list for "dream" acquisitions this summer - and he fits the same mold as Lindholm (RHS, plays Centre and RW).

I think Hamilton makes their 2nd pair better and brings some offense. They can then deal a D man.

It's kind of like when Hamilton came to Calgary and supplemented Gio and Brodie.

I'd MUCH rather have Zibanejad than Lindholm too. Has already shown he can produce instead of just being a guy who "still has potential".

It's actually pretty close - Lindholm is a pretty consistent 40 point guy already.

Last 3 seasons:

Zibanejad: GP:209 G:62 A:73 P:135 PPG: .65
Lindholm: GP: 235 G:38 A:90 P:128 PPG: .55

But Lindholm is 18 months younger and might come cheaper than the $5.4M contract Zibanejad is on right now. Zibanejad is the better goal scorer for sure though, and I personally like him a bit better than Lindholm too.

Sounds like a Tavares deal might be announced soon:
