Owed 22.5 million on the last 5 years. cap hit of $6. The savings is the cap hit vs real money.

If you are a cheap owner that is on a budget that is a benefit to you.

Edit: Assuming the trade happens after July 1. If a trade happens I would be shocked it happens before then.

Agreed. They banked on Bennett taking a huge step last year and that didn't happen and IMO it cost the team. I doubt Tre banks on a young guy taking a huge step this year.

Like you said if that happens we are in great shape.

To each his own. Stone has only cracked 25 goals once. Flames need a finisher. Hoffman is the better finisher and stays healthy.

Dreger with the breaking news "Tavares still in negotiations with Isles but could test free agency". Thanks for the insight Dregs

Yeah, I won't argue with that because I agree that Hoffman is a better finisher, but Stone is much more valuable player overall and holds higher value. As you said though to each his own.

Insider trading:
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider...anders~1417629

JT's agent is speaking daily with the Islanders and focused on negotations
Lamoriello speaking on a regular basis with JT sharing his vision for the Islanders
If the negotiations don't go the way Tavares likes, reaching the interview period more of a reality

Trade conversations with Edmonton is not Chia trying to dump Lucic but more of Chia trying to get a hockey deal done for Lucic.
This signals to LeBrun that is because the Oilers don't really want to get rid of Lucic and Lucic just wants a change of scenery - no one will confirm that though
Montreal not interested in Lucic

Kovalchuk decision is holding up some trades, notably Skinner.
Teams like SJ and LA that are interested in Skinner are also waiting to see what Kovalchuk decides.
Bruins talking to Kovalchuk who could be a replacement for Nash.

Dreger says there is word that there is interest in David Krecji on the trade front and that Boston would like to move Backes

Hoffman trade value is diminishing.
Dorion may have to trade Hoffman cheaper on the dollar

Erik Karlsson is willing to wait.
May take Dorion's July 1st offer and sit on it for a while.
If the Sens come up to him with a trade, he will consider it too

Leafs are trying to get a discount on Marner.
Dreger says Marner has the clout to negotiate a deal similar to Eichel's.
Expect a battle between the Leafs and Marner over the next contract

'

Chiarelli we're not looking to dump Lucic, we're trying to move him in a hockey trade... because he's terrible and his contract is a boat anchor.

On the flip side, Lucic wants out because even with McLotto-ball he knows there's no hope and that franchise / team is an absolute train wreck.

Oh how satisfying this is to see unfold.

It's just funny that fans think the Flames will be able to acquire a difference-maker from another team - a player who's the 3rd or 4th best player on an NHL roster - without giving up any of our top 8 players. If the Flames had such a stellar core they'd have made it into the playoffs and won a round or two.
This times a million! So many homer posters on here. Delusional. And im not on here bashing the flames im just being realistic. I want the flames to be goor but they just arent good. We need a minimum of one proven top 6 forward to make the playoffs, two to be a real threat. And for the young guys to make strides

We all laughed at Lucic when he made the silly decision to go to Edmonton because “97”. We are still laughing.

There you go again – bashing the Flames, claiming that anyone who doesn't bash them is a homer and delusional, and in denial about the whole thing.

....am I the only one that has a soft spot for Krecji since 2011? I know he is 32, and I know he has a $7.5M contract for 2 more years, but if JT is out, I would be just fine with Krecji.

....Oh, and he shoots right, too.

His injury history worries me but that could be a sneaky under the radar pickup with minimall acquisition cost. He’d be solid 2nd liner for us, bumping Backlund down to shutdown 3rd line C

I think the Flames end up with a RH shooting C that played in Boston last season...but I dont believe it will be Krecji.
