Holy over-payment Batman! Take TJ Brodie and any one of those assets and you have Mark Stone. The guy has only cracked 25 goals once in his career. You aren't trading for Ovechkin.

Then, we can try and sign Tavares

You can try and score a super model too, but it ain't going to happen either.
I know this is silly season, but come on people, there is a salary cap and you have to keep the prospect base healthy and well stocked, or you go full Oiler. Never go full Oiler.

You are off on Stone’s value here. The guy was over a point per game last year on a terrible team, while being one of the best defensive wingers in the league. He consistently leads the league in takeaways.
Would you trade trade Gaudreau or Tkachuk for Brodie and Frolik?
Stone is their new franchise guy (if this mess doesn’t force them to blow up the franchise)

Yup. Karlsson is a monster. After him, Stone is the Senators' best player. If I was the Senators GM, I would look at that offer and throw it in the special filing cabinet, especially because Karlsson may have asked for a trade and Hoffman seems like a must-trade.
If Hoffman will dump Monika Caryk or, improbably, the allegations are not true, I think I'd target Hoffman. I think he is totally acquirable right now. The dream is a deal around Michael Stone, but I think we'll still have to trade Brodie. The difference is that now this deal seems much more likely. I think Treliving would just need to make a legitimate offer and I think the Senators would take it.
However, I'm not sure if Treliving would. He talks a lot about acquiring the right kind of person. If the allegations are true, which seems to be the case, and Monika Caryk comes with Hoffman...

Enough waiting and hoping that someone in the organization steps forward. If it happens great, that's a good problem to have. But if it doesn't we're just wasting the contracts of Monahan and Gaudreau and Gio isn't getting any younger either.

I don’t think many would agree with that assessment. Flames have most of the forwards needed imo. Just need one driving offensive forward and a step forward from Bennett or Janko and we have very good forward depth.
Atrocious? That describes Vancouver’s forwards
|
Until they prove otherwise, Ferland Bennett and Jankowski are kinda garbage. One just finished a promising rookie season and two of them can't produce when they don't play with Johnny Gaudreau.
Depth is a problem at forward, but it gets easier if there's another elite player to take heat off them

I know. I heard that too. That would be outrageous. I won't believe Chiarelli is capable of pulling that off until I see it.

Oilers shill Darren Dreger?
Yeah, I believe he would love to see that deal, but I don't believe for a moment that any team trades for Lucic unless there is a hell of a lot more than Puljajarvi attached to it.

I see Perron has moved down TSN’s FA board. If this actually corresponds to a real drop in his value, Perron is now my #1 FA target (outside the Tavares dream).
Of course, it still depends on the dollars and term required.

Hanifin or Faulk is a huge difference too
I don't think the Canes should do either but if it was Faulk it's not too far off.
But I don't see how the Canes who always wants t dump salary are taking Lucic back without a gross over payment. Maybe add 10th overall and for Faulk not Hanifin

Lucia’s value is so negative that adding a dwindling prospect still keeps it negative.
I wouldn’t take the Oilers package for nothing.

Yup. A top four defenseman and a top nine winger for a guy who scores 20-25 goals a year seems more than fair. Stone put up an anomalous season last year. I wouldn't pay a huge return for a player unless he has a track record, and Stone's track record is not worth anything more than I suggested. I think people are grossly undervaluing our players and willing to throw away good assets for the shiny bobble in the window.

Ricky Dudley isn't an inexperienced GM. He's worked for many organizations and has had some success. I find it hard to believe he would show interest in such a one-sided deal.

Either Hanifin or Faulk won't make much of a difference in Edmonton but I can't believe they could get rid of that terrible contract just like that.

Don Waddell is the GM in Carolina. He has never had success.

Brodie and Frolik are good assets for sure but it seems you are valuing them NHL18 style where adding up enough good assets gets you a great asset.
It just never works like that unless in a special scenario where a team is in a bind and wants to get rid of a player.
That's not the case with Stone. In fact, it's quite the opposite. Stone is probably the last guy Ottawa wants to trade right now.

Which is basically what Vegas built their whole team on...
