I can't help but think of Michelle Hadley, the girl arrested, jailed, and vilified on social media for her alleged attacks on Angela Diaz. The only problem was, it was Diaz doing it to herself, to frame Hadley.
I'm not saying that's what's happening here; I'm just saying let's wait for the facts before vilifying anyone.

Probably not. But then I'm not an owner with hundreds of millions invested in a team that hasn't made the playoffs in five years, or a GM desperate for more goal-scoring to save his job. The people in charge of pro sports teams overlook some pretty heinous stuff out of desperation to win. I don't see how this is beyond the pale compared to other transgressions.

Well, I'm going on the assumption that Caryk's (if she did do it) days of online bullying are over. I mean, maybe she's so dumb that she thinks she can keep doing this without it affecting her husband's career (and her future). And maybe she'll be impervious to the full court press from Hoffman, his agent, her family, and everyone else in her life to smarten up. And maybe Hoffman is dumb or besotted enough to stick with her if she shows she's completely unrepentant. But it's unlikely.

Yeah I think a lot of teams will cross Hoffman off their list of desirable players but it only takes one or two teams. In a few years it may blow over depending on the outcome of this and if Hoffman and Caryk remain a couple. No chance this guy plays for the Flames IMO.

The dressing room is supposed to be a very tight knit group full of people that will go to war for each other, block shots for each other, pick each other up when they are having a crap game, etc.
If you get a guy in here where his gf is causing a clusterf with other players lives, you can destroy an entire season over it.

If the price is right bring him in. The team needs to make a few gambles. We need scoring and don't have a lot of assets. If all of this is actually true I like to think it would be a massive wake up call and learning experience for her/him. 25 goals and 50 points would be a nice addition for our top 6. I believe the team and players will be judging Hoffman and the type of guy he is not his gf. I just don't see them moving cities and doing anything but trying to mend things and smooth things over and being better people. With the owners money I'd be willing to make the bet for them.
