I usually watch the first half of the first round or so and then check out. It's great to get Dahlin this year, but much of the mystery/intrigue is gone with such a clear number one choice. Hopefully they show new jerseys, that would be pretty cool!

Here’s someone that should be at our pick in the 4th round and has been labelled as the steal of the draft. Matthew Struthers. Good numbers since he was traded (almost ppg) to North Bay. Projects as a 5th-7th round pick
Mark Scheig

Likely goes between rounds 5 and 7. And yes, bottom-9 center with some upside if he reaches it.

I'm not sure who someone who is projected to go rounds 5-7 can be labelled the steal of the draft. if he's such a steal, surely he'd go sooner?

Jamie Benn.

He was a steal only in retrospect. I don't recall anyone calling him the steal of the draft at draft weekend and even Les Jackson said they were just lucky. Sometimes good players don't get enough press going into the draft because of the league or team they played on but to proclaim him a steal before the draft is a tough one because if a team that likes him picks him in the 3rd round he's probably not a steal anymore.

A steal of the draft is only determined using hindsight. You don't know on draft day if you got a steal or not, but a few years down the road you usually do, and that's what FFIV is saying. That kid COULD end up being a steal.
Johnny Gaudreau was a steal
Jamie Benn was a steal
Brayden Point was a steal
But you didn't know it draft day, you could only hope they'd end up that way.

I didn’t suggest there were not gems that are ultimately found at the end of the draft.
I’m saying that if everyone knew that these types of players were going to be the steal of the draft, they wouldn’t last until late in the draft.
You think everyone knew Benn was going to be a star.
You really can’t label someone the steal of a draft before he’s even drafted.

here's some projected rankings on re-entries that could be re-drafted in the range with our later picks. If Mascherin is there in the 4th round with our pick I hope we take him.
Adam Mascherin (C/LW, Canada, Kitchener OHL) — 70-120 range
Jordan Sambrook (RHD, Canada, Sault Ste. Marie OHL) — possibly in rounds 5-7
Nicolas Mattinen (RHD, Canada, Hamilton OHL) — possibly in rounds 5-7
Vojtech Budik (LHD, Czech Republic, Prince Albert WHL) — possibly in rounds 5-7

Albin Eriksson! I hope he's available at the Flames pick and that they take him. I have him ranked like I did Tuulola back in that draft.
Also of interest:
Jack Perbix, his name has been bubbling up more frequently the closer to the draft we get. Seems like a good darkhorse.
Lenni Killanen seems interesting. Tuulola like.
Oscar Back. Good sized LH C. Think he was on the WJC team.
Matthew Struthers is another on gaining in the rising department too. If any of these guys are available in the 4th round they'd be good I think.
There's some pesky Russians I'd like too but I think they go early this year with OV winning finally.

According to Mckenzie the asking price for Mascherin's rights was a 3rd round pick.
Considering Florida lost him for nothing, if the Flames really wanted him they could have probably offered one of their 4ths and signed him instead of hoping and praying he falls to them.

McKenzie releases his top 93.

Kotkaniemi has surged into 5th.
There are also rumors that Montreal may take Kotkaniemi with the 3rd OA pick.
