The only time I have been this genuinely happy to see a non Flame win the cup was when Ray Bourque got one with Colorado.

Frigging Bourque can pound sand!!! That arsehole gave an inspirational speech to the Tampa Bay Lightning players following their loss to the Flames in game 5 of the 2004 Stanley Cup final. Hated him ever since!!!

Ovi is the first captain in a while to actually look like he just won the toughest trophy in sports when receiving the cup. You should be that jacked up, really. That inner child should be going bananas.

Gaudreau's reaction would be the best. That kid gets jacked up when he scores a goal during a boring regular season game. Just imagine how nuts he'd be if he got to hoist the Cup.

Honestly it’s pretty sweet watching anyone hoist the Cup for the first time. I find it hard to believe that anyone becomes an NHL player without dreaming about winning the Cup.
When L.A. won it the first time it was kinda cool to see that. It’s just cool to see somebody achieve their lifelong dream in general. Ovechkin is extra awesome because he has played for so long, and likely has a greater appreciation for how hard it is to win then a guy like Toews who entered the league and started having instant success.
I cannot remember such a prolonged celebration of the Cup in my lifetime. That twitter feed is insane.
Part of it is the acceleration of how social media is used and consumed. That and I think the Caps have had a long long time to wait before releasing this pent up energy. Got to admit, this is one hell of a celebration.
And Kudos to OV and the caps for just ...just.. being really big kids about this. They all look like this is the best time to be alive. All of them doing what their 10-12 year old selves imagined.
All those poor livers though. Won't someone think about those livers?
