the Johnny Manziel comeback story should be interesting...i was never a fan of his to be honest, but I hope that he is able to make a comeback and carve out a football career for himself.
overcoming addiction is a huge challenge... it sounds like he has been humbled and is contrite about his mistakes. it'd be a heck of a story if he was able to get even close to the kind of player he was at TAMU
I hope he fails. The media has massive wood for him and he has accomplished nothing... unless you count being a women beating junkie.
He may be saying the right things now (I've stopped listening), but he certainly wasn't all off season. Nothing new if anyone knows his *character*.

He'll be getting snaps in their preseason game which I think is tomorrow. I'd expect he'll get the lion share of the snaps with the second team.
From all accounts he's doing a good job of picking up the playbook, the question is more along the lines of decision making speed as opposed to pure physical gifts.

I imagine that the west will be ultra competitive this year. First place is a toss up between Winnipeg Calgary and Edmonton. Saskatchewan may be better but I'm not sold on their qbs. Bc is the only question mark for me.. Could be a great team or could fall to a basement finish and neither would surprise me
He looked really good last night when you consider he’s been in the league for only two weeks. He will be starting for the Cats before Labor Day IMO. I realize there are a lot of cynics and rightly so but he’s a great fit for this league.

I liked his game a lot last night. He used his feet, he clearly has a big arm.
You have to temper it a bit, he was playing a lot of Toronto backups. But he clearly has pretty good vision.
9/11 for 80 yards and most importantly no picks. He took a sack, but he was smart enough to take the sack.
He has one good scamper for about 8 yards as well.
Masoli looked ok, but its pretty clear that there is a QB competition in Hamilton
LEt you be the judge though

One thing to add, its rare to see a QB that can throw those wide side passes with that much zip in the CFL, however teams are going to know that he can do that and know its coming so it might be a tougher completion moving forward.

Chris Steveler, a University of South Dakota QB, went 10 for 10 140 Yards and TD no picks for the Bombers last night. Obviously just one pre season game but he looked really good and hopefully the Bombers found a diamond in the rough to be a competent backup.

I would take CFL preseason with a grain of salt. Basic schemes, lots of rookies and backups.
Having said that, when things broke down Manziel was able to make accurate throws on the run which will be a big asset if/when he gets his chance. While it's still too soon to anoint him the starter, he made a very good first impression in a new league.

The wife beating alcoholic junkie threw for 80 yards against 3rd and 4th stringers and look at the battle it has created... ROFL
Wow, 51 thousand Grey Cup tickets already sold, I guess Edmonton fans are thinking the Eskies are going to be in the championship game.
Ticket sales for the 106th Grey Cup are off to a stellar start afte going on sale just four days ago.
To date, 51,000 tickets have been purchased by fans for this year's game at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, which leaves just 4,819 seats remaining for the big game on November 25.
“51,000 tickets sold is a major milestone for an event taking place more than five months from today,” said Len Rhodes, President and CEO of the Edmonton Eskimos and Co-Chair of the Grey Cup Festival. “The response we’ve received from fans across Canada has been incredible, not to mention the support from our corporate and media partners, who have been instrumental in the success of this ticket launch.

Some may be thinking that, but that's not the reason. Edmonton has a reputation for planning a great Grey Cup Game (also other great events) and buying tickets. I think Edmonton holds the record for selling out this game - six days for the last one, I believe, from the day general sales opened. My tickets were purchased weeks ago.
