If I had to guess, they offended their wizard somehow after game 1 of the final and have been struggling ever since.
I don't care if you are trolling me at this point I LOL'd and cant agree more.

I agree with undercover Canucks fan here. Vegas clearly employed some kind of witchcraft this year but for whatever reason it's nice to see the spell broken in the finals. Hopefully the Caps can finish them off the way they did in the final games vs. the Pens and Lightning.

You are the one that seemed to think being the 2nd highest scoring team is a big deal and that they didn't rely on high level goaltending.

I call it "$500 million Franchise Fee" magic. Which I admit is a bit of an outrageous statement because Vegas have passed the eye test with flying colours. But if they come back down to earth next year, my suspicions will be rekindled. Also can't ignore the fact that the Oilers one good season in the last 10 came after the city bought Katz an arena. It's not a stretch to think that hundreds of millions of dollars buys you some favourable officiating.

No, just no.

A poster made the claim the Jets rely on high level goaltending. I simply pointed out that makes no sense based on their goal production. If they we're a bottom half team goal wise I'd entertain that argument.

They do though. All good teams rely on high level goaltending. Teams that don't get high level goaltending can simply not compete - no matter how many goals they score. Without high level goaltending the Jets are another average team. With high level goaltending they had a great season.

I don't get it, why are we talking about the Jets? They're done. Hopefully the Knights are done soon too.

I never understood the hate for Chiasson. He's a perfectly good NHL 3rd/4th liner. Decent skater, good size, plays heads-up hockey. Chips in with the odd goal. He was more productive this season than anyone on the Flame's 4th line. Letting him walk and then spending a 2nd on an inferior Lazar is one of Treliving's clear misses.

He's on the Caps roster but isn't doing much. 2pts in 16 games; a healthy scratch...

I think Lazar has more upside. And understands the off-side rule.

Jackets have never won more than 2 playoff games in a series. Pens were hobbled with injuries and had played the most hockey of any team ever.

The Blue Jackets never getting past 2 wins in the playoffs has nothing to do with this years Blue Jackets. Just as the Capitals not making it past the second round is more of a media story than it is anything else.

The Caps although relatively healthy had to deal with some injuries of their own not to mention what I suspect will be a long list of played through injuries. I don't see how Smith Pelley isn't banged up after the slapshot to the neck of Kuznetsovs arm isn't banged up after that hit. Backstrom also missed 4 games and even once he came back it was talked about how he couldn't shoot.

The Caps had an incredibly challenging road to the finals as did Vegas.

And, at this point at least, each of those teams put up a bigger challenge than the Western Conference winner - who walked through their competition. Sort of a sad state in terms of the East vs West as the West just doesn't have the dominance it once had.

It was all about utilization. He earned his whipping-boy reputation when on the 1st line, where he clearly did not belong. Of course, the situation that lead to him need to to be tested on the first line was also on Treliving.

In the end of the day, we had too many 'good' 3rd/4th liners, and not enough 'good' 1st/2nd liners. Thankfully Ferland has stepped up to carry the weight for now.

Stepped up for half the season...I agree with the rest though

Flames certainly had worse players than Chiasson in the lineup this season

Kind of shows how overrated championship team role players can be. (Paraphrased from a conversation recently about role players getting big contracts after winning the cup. Not sure what thread or how long ago.)
