Ah, I usually look up the Fox path at the bridge to see if anyone is coming south. Today given the rain and miserable conditions I was definitely having tunnel vision and not looking around as much.

Bought a North Face breathable rain jacket today at lunch time. It will now proceed to be sunny and warm for the next three months.

So KTrain hauled my ass 100 km yesterday, dude just keeps going. I drafted off him for 75km then i started to struggle with the winds and the final hills, it was a grueling last 25km for me. So pro tip, just draft behind KTrain while he does all the work. We averaged 30kph which is awesome.

It was a lot of fun. I was hurting today though.

I'm falling behind on my year goal so I'm going to try to make up for it this month. This week is looking great.

Wish I could, damn soccer every day this week.

Did my own much slower version of 100km this weekend. Still trying to beat this stupid spring cold, so I didn't push it too much. Did the canal to Chestermere and back. There's a spot by the new BRT near 17th/Blackfoot that's "closed" but passable. All sorts of interesting characters on the pathway, including one inebriated lady who wanted to knock my off my bike (her man steered her to the other side of the pathway).

Felt not too bad yesterday, spent the day at the Nordic Centre helping marshall the Deadgoat Giver 6er mtn bike race. Good times.

As a bonus this morning, saw a Yeti road bike on my ride in. Not sure I've ever seen one of those before.

I might be interested depending on the day. Let me know what day you're thinking.

The Highwood Gran Fondo sent a message last night about changing the route this year because of road construction on highway 40. Instead of leaving out of Stoney Nakoda, we're heading out of the Longview site. An extra 19km (153km!) but 100m less climbing.

It's got me looking at this article again. Some fun quantitative numbers about losing weight and improving your climbing...

I bought a cheap-o Chinese single speed a few weeks ago and today was my first day commuting downtown. About 10.6km in 29 minutes (and one wrong turn). I had forgotten how much fun it is to just cycle around the city. I think I need more bikes haha.

Last Friday I completed an overhaul of my Simcoe Roadster converting it to an eBike. OH MY GOD is that ever fun to ride. I had to bring it into my office (we have a bike shop) to get the pedal cranks off, one was seized and the whole thing had to have the bottom bracket punched out, and the brakes were single purpose and super cheap so I couldn't replace it myself.

I bought the BBS02. Rode up the 6th Street hill by The Winston with ease. It's literally pure joy to ride that thing.

I'm going to wait on the pics. The battery I bought is far too much for what I need, so I have a friend who is putting a BBSHD on a cargo bike and I'm selling him my battery for a smaller battery he bought (we coordinated this). So right now I've got the battery jury rigged onto my bike with zip ties and tape.

Does anybody calculate the calories burned cycling? I'm getting numbers all over the place. One of the main reasons I cycle is to get into shape and lose some weight.
For example, this morning Strava tells me I burned 533 calories. However this website
 https://caloriesburnedhq.com/calories-burned-biking/
says I burned 1188.

The numbers in case anybody is curious, I weigh 220 pounds, and spent 1:41 riding in over 28 km. Average speed was 16.8 km/h (Was riding with a novice rider today.)

I'd like to think I burned that many calories...

says I burned 1188.

The numbers in case anybody is curious, I weigh 220 pounds, and spent 1:41 riding in over 28 km. Average speed was 16.8 km/h (Was riding with a novice rider today.)

I'd like to think I burned that many calories...

I get 2 different numbers from Garmin Connect and Strava with the same data. Generally for weight loss I will just take the lower burned number and use it so I'm always on the good side.

At the same time if I go for a ride that absolutely destroys me and the Garmin has 600 cal while the strava shows 1300, I'll probably use the bigger number.

Maybe someone knows the real answer...

TLDR use the lower one. lol
