Everybody remember when Kopitar signed a $10 million per year deal and then got 12 goals and 52 points? He was washed up and one of the worst contracts too.
Then he bounced back and potted 30+ goals and 90+ points again this year.
Fans are very "what have you done lately?", I am too at times.
Jonathan Toews is overpaid. But he's still a very good two way center and calling his contract the worst in the league is not even close to accurate. I'd take him on my team, even with that contract, long before guys like Bobby Ryan, Troy Brouwer, Loui Eriksson, etc.

Team Canada would have about 8 centres on the team, and a number would being playing on the wing.
Toews would probably centre the shut down line.

Toews is still a brutal contract, a $10.5m stick of lipstick on a pig doesn't make it a better pig, every Chicago fan would love this guy fired to the moon.

You think Toews would centre the shutdown line over Bergeron? Not a chance.

Picking today there would be a good chance that the centres would be McDavid, Schiefele Johansen, Stamkos and Crosby.
Some one like Brayden Point or Barzal could be too good to ignore.
Tavares/Toews/Bergeron would have to show more than they did over the past season. Which they very much might do.
Not hard to see Johansem and/or Schiefele as playing on the shut down role.
Schiefele won Gold at the 2016 World cup gold shutting down tourney MVP Laine in the Gold medal game.

"Not a good the contract" is not the same as "would you take him". You got to give something to get something, and you'd get a proven winner, with size, leadership, can play center, only 30, and still good for over 50pts.
Seriously, Chicago fans would give him away for *nothing* because of his cap hit? You think there are zero teams in the NHL that would take him for a bag of pucks? Lot of NyQuil being passed around here.

The only thing I'm certain of is that you don't understand the "lipstick on a pig" analogy or how to use it lol.

Looks like you are within the full throws of a ricardod wt absolute f are you talking about moment...
Bergeron had his best season of his career and without an injury would be top 5 in Hart voting. Probably still makes it top 10.
And Tavares? Ya, pretty good year himself.

There is not a team in the NHL that would take on the full extent of that contract, even if they gave him away. The Hawks would either have to retain salary or take some serious contracts back.

Toews scored 3 more points than the next Flames captain in 6 more games. Both were -1 .
What will Tkachuk's contract be.
Monahan signed a 6.35 x 7 = 44.5
Say that the 3 RFA years should be 3x3 =9 that means his UFA years are 35.5 / 4 = 8.875
so if the Hawks would retain 1.6 M or take back Frolik or Backlund or Brouwer or Stone that would make Toews contract equivalent to Monahans

But that's the case with any contract with term left on it in the league.
Plus the Blackhawk's won't just give him away. They were irrelevant in that market before Toews and Kane came to town. That still counts for something in that market.
Ryane Clowe collected 4.85 million as an assistant coach for New Jersey last year. David Clarkson is still getting 5 plus a year. I think Mark Faynes 3.625 million just expired for the Oilers. There are a lot of 3.5-5.5 million dollar a year contracts with term that people forget about because the player has long since been forgotten.

Bergeron is the 3rd best Center in the NHL behind Crosby and McDavid. And i didn’t think it was even an argument !

Ricardow making sense without sentence structure.
Toews contract is not that bad for what he brings, everyone is blowing it out of proportion. If we could dump Brouwer in that trade it would be enough imo. But they would also need some value. Toews would make this team better by a mile+ has made other players way better over his career.
Trade Brodie+brouwer+Janko for toews, trade stone for some picks.
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Toews-Bennett
Dube/mangiapane-Backlund-Frolik
Lazar-Shore-Hathaway
Gio-Hamilton
Valimaki-Hamonic
Kulak-Andersson
Imo our only big ? Would be in net. Something were not talking about enough imo.

Lol, is this some kind of strange trap where you get to argue that ryan freaking johansen is elevated to this status through his grit? Not even David poile would agree with you. It's patently nonsensical.
But bergeron also is there before scheifele by a pretty wide margin. And he plays centre over stamkos.

What does where Canadian Centres would slot have to do with trade discussion?
Outside of that, what does where they'd slot on a list have to do with anyone's take on their subjective ranking?
It's really irrelevant where you think Bergeron fits down the middle on a Team Canada situation because last time out he was on RW with Crosby on the top line and Marchand on the left. Team Canada's forward rank is usually full of Centres playing wing to spread depth and chemistry around. Trying to suggest one centre is better than another because you think they'd play centre on a higher line on an incarnation of Team Canada is an inane and futile assertion.
Completely irrelevant argument muddied by Ricardow's typical wrench-throwing trolling.
