Kinda sad it looks like its done. Had friends work there back in the day. It was a staple in the sw, moms used to take me there as a young buck all the time. Interested to see what happens even though i havent lived in calgary for 10 years.

I worked there about 15 years ago. Had some great times selling trees and shrubs.

Had the worst farmers tan though.

What are the other places to get trees and shrubs other than golden acre up in the north and green gate down off Macleod down south?

Frustrating as Sunnyside was about a ten minute drive away. Sad to see it go.

If Sunnyside is a ten minute drive away this likely won't help, but Spruce It Up on Macleod Trail way south is another option.

Blue Grass out by Cross Iron.

I worked in perennials for a couple of summers. Sad.

I think they just cashed in, I can't blame them

Quote:

While a community mourns the impending closure of the century-old Sunnyside Greenhouses, business and community leaders say its surprise sale creates a unique opportunity to provide quality housing and retail in the city’s booming northwest quadrant.

Grant and Warren Jensen, owners of Sunnyside Greenhouses at 3439 69th Street N.W., circulated a letter this week announcing “with mixed emotions” the sale of their property and expressed hopes the purchaser will respect their wishes for a mixed-use retail and housing development.

I just called to ask if my store credit is still valid, and they are no longer taking phone call inquiries... hopefully I can still use the store credit, as it was a significant amount.

Hands down the best place for a rainy day dog walk. I'll miss chatting with the parrot too. And the fish. Though they never said much.
