I don't mind it one single bit. I wish Trudeau would grow a backbone and start biting back more.

There is a way to have backbone as a respectable adult, and another way to have it as an emotionally driven teenager who thinks he’s the smartest in the room.
Nenshi is the latter.

Then how come there is no disagreement about what the respective offers were? If they were close wouldn't one side have presented what the close offers were for PR purposes ("Look how reasonable our offer was!")?

Sorry, are you saying Klein is a respectable adult. He was an immature bully.

No, Klein has absolutely nothing to do with this or my opinion on Nenshi. I don’t even understand why he was mentioned. Shall we compare Nenshi and how he’s handling today’s Calgary to George Murdoch?

I think it is highly doubtful that Klein would be as successful in the political climate today as he was when he was the mayor.

Sorry, I misunderstood the context of your post. You'd quoted a post about Klein and I understood it as a comparison between Klein and Nenshi.

Yes I seem to have failed at trying to ignore the Klien comment and moving on about Nenshi. I wasn’t trying to continue a comparison that was pulled out of the air.

Because egos got in the way and it just didn't fall apart, it was snowballed into an epic explosion with everyone pointing fingers at each other.
It is one of those I know a guy who knows a guy things, but this individual was on the Stampede board and literally went to sleep expecting things to get done in relative short order. Instead woke up to the world burning. Queue the whole well that escalated quickly meme.

Okey... but that still doesn't explain how it could have been close when the deals (The basic terms of which are not disputed by the City or CSEC) are so far apart. Surely one of the two parties would have floated the "close" deal for propaganda purposes.
Doesn't make sense. I mean did your friend of a friend say how far apart they were in dollars? Or alternatively how they went from close to world on fire (I'm not sure how ego's take a deal from close to not close... I mean if the ego's didn't stop it from getting close then I don't see how they drove it apart... details?). Maybe s/he has a more flexible definition of close?

Call me crazy, but I liked Nenshi in that interview Getback posted. Good info, and I didn't think he sounded snarky in it. I do think he sounds that way at times, but I thought he was good in that interview.

Goddamit Flames say something. Demonstrate, at least for the benefit of your season ticket holders, one ounce of goodwill.
"We appreciate, and consider it to be a positive step forward that City Council has voted to strike a special committee to look at various possibilities for a new arena in Calgary, for the benefit of all Calgarians. We look forward to meeting with them at their earliest opportunity."
I am going to the STH information session next week and am gonna blast them.

I hope you're right... if I was a season ticket holder I'd really be pissed about this approach from the Flames. The last thing they need is to start losing that base.

I read an article by Ryan Pike on FlamesNation, about whether the Flames are sustainable @ the Saddledome.
Not gonna quote it, he either disingenuously or incompetently neglected to include, Hitmen/Roughnecks revenues as a huge incentive to the (Flames/CSEC).

Hitmen I could see making some money (not a lot). Roughnecks not so much.
Just found this:
https://www.tsn.ca/lawyers-follow-th...cials-1.682888
Hitman actually reported almost 400k loss in 2016.

I think the filler teams (Hitmen & Roughnecks) were just teams that ended up under the Flames because of how unprofitable they were. The previous owners had to bail. I'd say the Inferno are 100% charity as well.
