Game of mistakes right? Burakovsky doesn't take that bad penalty and Stephenson clears the puck and the Caps win this.

yeah, I don't really care that much about them though. I just reminds me of the mediocre mess my team is.

As a fan of a team who just seems so far from this, this kinda sucks.

Mah. I've seen my team makes the finals 3 times, and win once. That's more than a lot of fans can say.

Deryk Englelland.
2 points in his 43 playoff game career.
Doubled that production tonight in Game 1 of the SCF.
20 mins on ice.
Lead Vegas in PK time.

Fantastic. Well deserved. Just a beauty.

According to some purveyors of hot air around here he should've been playing beer league hockey.

Yep. Based purely on the way they play, I haven't seen such an easy team to cheer for in ages. The Flames were a lot of fun under Hartley, but this Vegas team both has that never quit attitude and a constantly attacking, high paced and liquid style of play. Even without the crazy backstory they would be a tonne of fun to watch. The story and the Vegas entertainment experience just make it all the better.

I always hated Reeves when we played him but I gained a little respect for him after the game he just played and his humble yet fun interview

I'm starting to think Gulutzan was the cause of everything bad with the Flames.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I probably won't see the Flames win a championship while I'm still young enough to fully enjoy it. Decades of mismanagement and poor decisions, and I don't see Treliving as the guy who turns that around. So now I consider myself a general hockey fan, and this finals matchup is one of the best ones I've seen in the last 10 years. Game 1 didn't disappoint and I'm really hoping that it goes the distance

to be fair, GG had a long history with Engelland and was his first pro coach...and he was a supporter from the start

https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/leng...?tid=281466862

Once the NHL awarded LV with a franchise, it was only a matter of time that Engelland would sign there...

Well to the fans defense, under this team and system he didn't look like a NHL d man on many nights. I think that having Reeves has allowed him to focus on his game a bit more and not have to be the protector, intimidator, game-changing hit kind of player.

He had half the penalty minutes this season as his second lowest season.

Lets also not forget he had 2 assists and no goals (16gp) coming into this game.

That was the most lead changes in a game in Stanley Cup final history with 4.
