I really feel bad for the entire Jets fan base. They have been so dedicated with longevity to their beloved Jets. Hockey matters to their city to their province year round.
With the NHL's Vegas expansion draft success puting such fear in GM's to not be able to protect every roster player they needed to, they even cut side deals with LV with compensating them with draft picks not to take certain players. Multiple trades after the expansion draft were worked out. Bettmans fast tracking a competitive roster for sunny Vegas roster right to instantly being one of top 3 teams in the NHL. Then right on through to the SC final.
I am sure that every dedicated long term fan base that helped build the NHL through decades and decades of dedication & all their up & down seasons are just overjoyed to see Vegas fans get easy street., The seasons after season of frustration just to get a small dose of the playoffs is thrilled to see Bettman way over compensate LV to build their super competitive team with Instant success as the result.
Deny it all you want this was the result. Not saying the reg season was rigged or the playoffs. But the result is first year Vegas in the SC final.
But there is a silver ling for Calgary.
This is really great news for any of he Flames fans worried about the team moving to Seattle or KC. Those new owners are not dumb they will say no no no Gary we want the Golden Knight treatment, we want your Vegas expansion draft Gary not a relocation team.
Your 2018 NHL hockey SC final will be Florida vs Nevada and please let the ratings suck. I hope hockey fans from every other fan base just find something better to do and ignore the SC final all together.

nah
They got their team back, they had one year of goodwill. Now they're just another Canadian team. They just made it to the conference finals and a Flames fan is going to feel bad for them?
lol

You don’t actually believe this do you? Any way you look at it. They are cast off players.
I honestly think the rallying behind the city after the tragedy played a HUGE part into their success this year.
Vegas wasn’t favored to do jack. Get over it, and after all the Bs we have to deal with here in Phoenix we will probably be the red headed step child of the desert forever if they win this year. So be it

The Jets and their fan base can pound sand. You can double that for the people walking around Calgary with their freshly minted Jets gear who never lived in Winnipeg a minute of their life since this iteration of the Jets moved to town.

"Cast offs" is a misnomer.
Not very many of the Vegas players would be in Vegas had the expansion rules not been so loose. A couple more protection slots and probably 90% of the Vegas players would still be with their original teams because those teams would have LOVED to keep them. $500 million and Vegas was allowed to pillage the rest of the leagues teams for their very good depth players that they acquired over years of drafting, developing and trading, and as a result Vegas put up 109 point season and are now in the Stanley Cup finals.

What about if they lived in Winnipeg when the old Jets were in town?

Still ridiculous in my opinion, but to each their own.
I was a huge Jets fan growing up. Their farm team played where I grew up and I actually lived next to some pretty notable Jets as they came up through the AHL. This team has zero ties to that time.
If the Maritimes got a CFL team I wouldn’t all of a sudden route against the Stamps when the Maritime team came to town.

The whole Golden Knights have been gifted into the final is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on CP.
The Oilers were gifted the most talented prospect of the generation and didn't even make the playoffs.
To act like any path to the finals can be gifted in today's NHL, just shows complete pettiness that your team isn't there too.
To see some Flames fans joining in on the pettiness is embarassing of our fan base.

The Knights were better plane and simple. That relentless pressure just got the Jets and they slipped into bad habits. If was a fun series, no shame it in for the Jets.
I don't care anything about Vegas other than the hockey they play. 1 year, 10 years don't care, they play fun exciting hockey. Jets are well put together and will be right back here next year with a better understanding of what the next step will take. Great run for them and lots to look forward to.

Team of destiny. Unbelievable that they won and that they have only lost 3 games out of 18 played. Will the break and rest disrupt their cadence? Will the hockey gods get bored and move on. Will MAF steal more games. I'm hoping for Vegas vs Capitals.
Sad for the Winnipeg loss, but man, this Vegas story is turning out to be one for the history books. If they win a cup, this will make a great movie down the road.

I mean how could that even happen? There aren't even any cities in the Maritimes. You're not going to setup a CFL team in some fishing village.

Yup. James Neal, MA Fleury, Riley Smith, Marchissault, Perron, Theodore, McNabb, Engelland, etc. This isn’t garbage bin players. While it is a great and improbable story, they weren’t dealt the hand teams like Ottawa, San Jose, Nashville, Florida, etc were.

Karlsson had 6 goals when let go. He had 42 under Gallant. Fleury was on the bench in Pittsburgh. He's leading this team now even if he was inured after just 3 games into the season. Marchesseault was a - gazillion player. He now was top of the NHL under Gallant. Schmidt was a HEALTHY scratch 26 times last year . He's on the top pair under Gallant. 11 players had RECORD SETTING career seasons under Gallant. Gallant; the coach the PANTHERS fired after a practice and let him take a freakin TAXI to get back home

I dont why all the sudden people are against the expansion process. Teams got to protect 7 f and 3 d. Therefore they picked 3rd line players and some good players with bad contracts. And they did really good at it and really didnt make any team weaker in the process (except florida)

All that doesn't matter. None of these players are let go for free if the original team had the choice. Thus they are not "cast offs". The teams hands were forced by what now look to be way to loose of expansion rules.
The league went overboard from past expansion trying to make Vegas competitive. They allowed them an opportunity to become a juggernaut, and hats off to GMGM, he pulled it off.

I’m not against the expansion process at all, and I don’t really care if Vegas wins the Stanley Cup in their first year, but I’ve said since the expansion process started that only being to protect 10 players was not very fair to teams who spent years building their depth. A team like Nashville lost James Neal for nothing.
